Same here. I’m definitely not opposed to having FFS but it just doesn’t seem like it would be worth the investment for me personally. Side imaging and spot lock trolling motors were two things I had no issue dropping $$$ on though. Upgrading to both opened up SO many possibilities!

Agree.  Boat control was the game changer for me.  I spent A LOT of time working from the back deck these days than I ever did and I catch more fish to boot.  The Link functionality is also very nice when bouncing for walleye.  I can easily run four rods trolling by myself and have complete awareness and control.  Like anything, there are quirks to figure out but I love this stuff.

Spot lock has put a lot of extra fish in my boat.   Whether smallies on the river or the tail waters it’s a game changer in current.

I'm still on the fence about FF sonar.  If I was a diehard tourney fisherman, I'd have to have it.  I would think it would be a big help in pre-tourney scouting as far as locating fish.  But as a fun fisherman, I'm having fun without it.  However, sure would be nice to have it striper fishing, they move around so much, pretty much just relate to shad.  I would think this would be a tool that would really help locating them.

I'm sure I will end up with it someday, but I am not in a rush.

I need to update to Spot Lock first.

Its all kinda relative, back when DI and SI came out im sure everyone said the same thing Now you cant hardly by a new unit without those.  And with all the pressure on the lakes now its hard to sit over the top of a school with 2D and pull them straight up, they tend to stay out from under boats more and more. gotta cast to them now.   gotta get onboard with the future.

Cant wait to see how the EV hummer pulls the boat....................j/k

All the new goodies give the average Joe abilities and skill sets only the top 10% had, boat control, remembering your spots, to mentally picture what was underneath….how fish were reacting…this puts more pressure on the fish…one reason I feel the need to reevaluate length and bag limits….the shear amount of pressure from all the tournaments….far more people using than ever before, local and tourist…

supplemental stockings should be on the table to ensure good genetics, smallmouths for sure and a real effort on our river strain walleyes…expand pan fish opportunities…Read ear sunfish, even yellow perch….bluegill

Smallmouth need more protection, supplemental stockings…the trend now is technology to boost females that naturally get far bigger than males in bass and walleyes….if Missouri and Arkansas are not researching this they should be.

we are in a new era, live scope could help biologists learn more than sampling alone…some fish species are notorious to electro sample ( deep) smallmouths and walleyes in particular

MONKEYS? what monkeys?

That's a great idea!  You're the first I've heard mention this...  Nice.

Do you use SI on rivers and at Taney?

Very little. On the rivers I use my GPS quite a bit to mark spots on where I need to run when things are low. Taneycomo has some big trees in deeper water that aren't always visible so I have a few of those marked just so we're aware of them when drifting.

Being able to hold the boat in current while you rerig, deal with fish, help others, etc is worth the $$$ for spotlock. Trolling for trout with multiple rods and shooting wind blown docks for crappie by yourself are SO much easier with a GPS trolling motor and the remote.

I’ve done the update on mine and I like it.  Some turn the gain up to 80 and color limit out the fuzz to 70 percent.  For me I like the gain around 70 and the color limit around 45 to 50.  I could see a crappie jig at 40 feet and really nice for a drop shot or a dimiki rig.  Screen is clear I like it so far.
