I know where the carp are, just having a time to get them to take my flies.

Caught a couple shortnose gar (didn't photograph) yesterday.

Not sure which part of the plant is used, I have heard of chickory coffee.

              Roots, roasted as a coffee substitute or an addition to ground coffee. Roots are hard to pull and work up. Yes, I tried.

I had a feeling that it might be the roots. If it were the leaves then more likely to be called a tea.

I've seen roasted chickory as in ingredient in tea.  The roots and extracts have some good health benefits.  Also used as a natural sweetener.

Hey Dave are those all from the secret creek? I may be stopping there on our way out to Kansas in a couple of weeks. Maybe my daughter will have a better time with the gar than she is having with needlefish out this way. They chase for a second or two then turn away.

Yes, all from there.  Let me know if you need any directions/suggestions on a good place to park/start.  The gar are scattered around everywhere, of course.

I might even be able to meet you there if its a weekend.
