Daryk Campbell Sr Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Dave, be careful of them raccoons during the day. I've seen many in the day at campgrounds, but they are usually nocturnal. I've seen many in the day at campgrounds, but they are usually nocturnal. We have a small patch of woods behind our house in the city. Figured I'd have seen some raccoons by now....since we've seen oppossum, turkeys, rabbits, owls, squirrels, all kinds of birds, red-shouldered hawks, etc. But I've only seen road kill here. So, this BIG one was 1/3 of the way along the base of a vertical bank, coming towards me, when I noticed it. I was so excited, I started softly talking to it. It stopped and looked at me. Beautiful! But by the time I got my phone out of my pocket to get a picture, it had turned around and walked back the way it had come, and I missed my chance. It just ambled away up the bank into the trees, didn't run. But I didn't see it again. Johnsfolly and Daryk Campbell Sr 2

However, the ones running around during the day seemed and were fine. Regardless I was still very cautious of them. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

Yup, I fear rabies when theybare out during the day. OLD YELLER really created a fear and awareness in me of raccoons. FishnDave Posted October 10, 2022 Author Posted October 10, 2022 Tried to get to 50 Bowfin this year. Did not make it. Ended at 46. Caught a couple Common Carp, too. Plus Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Green Sunfish, a Black Crappie, and ....something that may be either a wild Goldfish, or possibly a Prussian Carp. Oh...and 2 clams. One was just the shells, and one was still alive. I swear it was taking line BEFORE I set the hook. Imagine my surprise. And does it count as a fish? It has fish right in the name, after all..."shellfish".
