Ryan just a warning. We don't talk about politics, COVID, religion and the taste and preparations of white bass and hybrids on this forum.😉🤣

Hahaha my apologies! I do not eat the hybrids, those are just fun. But baked, parmesan crusted white bass is about as A+ as it gets!

I don't think I've ever seen a white bass alive, my son in law used to chase them on Beaver and I've eaten some. I don't think I realized how hard you guys work to catch them.

Working hard worrying about when the first run will happen, where it will happen and not missing it. The rest Is a gravy train with biskets and gravy. The hardest part is wearing yourself out catching them.

Sounds delicious. We don't have white bass out this way. We get runs of their smaller cousin, the white perch. They may be getting ready to run the creeks here. The yellow perch runs so far this year have been spotty. So I hope not the same with the whites.

Honestly I think they taste better than crappie. And they're a blast to catch, especially on a fly rod. It's a SWMO tradition to target the white bass run.

Do taste better than crappie which have the flavor of what you bread them in.

White bass have a taste but should be eaten before the Year Is up or it gets stronger in flavor. Right out of the water is the best. Does make a great chowder. Meat is solid and doesn't dissolve while cooking.

Exactly! White bass and bluegill are the best IMO. Walleye is good baked, but if you fry it, it's just another flaky white fish like crappie (aka no taste other than the breading).

I can detect the flavor in walleye some.

I love bluegill. Also like 11.5" LMB. Never caught a lot of white bass or walleye, but do catch a few crappie. I really like my breading mix and our homemade tartar sauce😁. So don't mind a mess of those white flaky fish😉.

MDC where to find white bass map doesn't even show them in SWMOwhite-bass-dist-map.png?itok=2od4GNyM

The possession limit almost means you have eat them as you catch them.

Rigging and carrying three rods is more work than I'm up for, casting jigs on fly rods ain't fun to me especially if the effective "drift" is only a couple seconds before taking in all that line for another cast. But loading and hauling and launching a boat is really over my "work limit" .

Y'all have "fun".  And  Thanks for the education, y'all probably saved me a horrible experience.

No you don't always find temporate bass in heavy current. When I explained I was just trying to explain how to use lines and lead eyed clousers to get them down. I know places they stack up in slow to moderate flows where you can use floating lines. No boat needed just a short walk.
