Why are planes so freaking loud ?

And are there no EPA regulations on their exhaust ?    That stuff falls on our heads ya know !   How is it that THEY get a pass ?

It's called a jet engine. Don't think there is a muffler for that.

I said "planes".   Not jets.   

Jets are far enough away that I can still take a call when one is overhead.

Jets are planes. It's just a different engine. I thought any mechanic, even a boat one, would know that.

When it has a jet engine it's called a JET, not a PLANE.   Ya dingleberry ! 

I know the difference between a sailboat and a motorboat!     How's that?

So, why do PROPELLER DRIVEN aircraft  have to be so loud ?    Quiet those sonsabitches down !

They still have no mufflers. And those props chopping through the air make a lot of noise. You ever been in an air boat? The props on them make a tremendous amount of noise.

Yes, airboats are undeniably the most obnoxious form of craft ever invented.  Although a guy up the road has a 4-wheeler that is pretty close.   I'd launch a missle at that prick if I could get away with it.
