bfishn Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 A neighbor when I was a kid threw out her shrooms soaking water in her yard and they took after a couple years I can't dance like I used to.

I have been using a knife and cutting off at ground level instead of pinching off bringing up some dirt. These this season have been so clean never needing a rinse just mushroom brush. Bugless even. bfishn 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Maverickpro201 Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Ya mine were bugless also. Which kind of puzzled me. Always had bugs before. BilletHead 1
BilletHead Posted April 16, 2022 Author Posted April 16, 2022 Two more quick looks today in same places. Still a few around but less. 25 total more or less. A few we left were drying up some. tjm Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Climbed up behind the house yesterday (Sat) afternoon with daughter and soninlaw we only found 43, two were gray, and I didn't take any pictures. But, if I can find a few, there are lots more out here for the guys with sharp eyes. All looked like fresh sprouted and I didn't see any bugs either. I did not see any drying up specimens at all. bfishn 1
Johnsfolly Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 We got out and looked on our side of the bay. Spent a few hours but no morels. Found a couple of neat orchids, including cranefly orchids (leaves only no floweres yet). Lots of skunk cabbage and jack in the pulpits. Saw river herring in the creek along with redbreast sunfish, yellow perch, chain pickerel and a couple of different minnow species. Even saw blue-gray gnatcatchers, magnolia warblers, palm warblers, chipping sparrows, white-throated sparrows, bluebirds, brown thrashers and more. So a great day outdoors even though the elusive morels were never seen. tjm, Daryk Campbell Sr and BilletHead 3
BilletHead Posted April 23, 2022 Author Posted April 23, 2022 No turkey early for the missus. Did a few things and she went solo behind the house. Got back a bit later chirping about the hen at ten yards. She was holding a bundle. Turns out it was her undershirt. Opened it up and poured these out. Probably the last of our patches. Getting big and she left some dried ones behind. Johnsfolly Posted April 24, 2022 Posted April 24, 2022 Here's some additional thoughts for those that have been successful this year in their morel foraging. Lots of great ways to treat those mushrooms😉 https://medium.com/one-table-one-world/some-fine-mushroom-tech-b33bd42069b4
