rps Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 A friend and I fished the White for two days. At the recommendation of a fellow OA member, we used Don Cranor's Guide Service. We had hoped to fish lures, but four gates made that a problem. We switched to drag fishing bait, shad or crawdad meat, after two fruitless hours. 10 browns the first day, five for each of us. The first picture is Larry with the largest of the day, approximately 24 inches. Only one rainbow. The second day we had a different guide. Only seven browns, but 12 to 15 rainbow. The second picture is a 21" rainbow, the largest I have ever caught. The third picture is a 26" brown, the largest I have caught since fishing with Elvin Weaver in 1999. Note that I did not long arm either fish. The guide held them for a quick picture after we measured them, and then released them. I would recommend Don Cranors service. Foghorn Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Congrats on your PB rainbow and a really nice brown! Terrierman 1
Devan S. Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Did they let you handle the fish at all or would they have? All their pictures on facebook shows the guide holding the fish which is fine but I'd prefer to at least have pictures of me holding it if I stumbled into a good one.
rps Posted June 13, 2022 Author Posted June 13, 2022 I could have posed. Larry did not know how, so the guide did. I told the guide I did not do long arms. He seemed disappointed. Long arms are great pictures. I told him to just hold the fish gentle and I would take a picture. When we got back, Don Cranor was disappointed. I think he really wanted a picture of the bow for his web page. This sounds way more snobbish than I intend, but I don't need a posed picture to remember the good fish. snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Unless you long arm them they all look smaller than actuality. As long as you are happy that’s all that counts. Johnsfolly 1
Johnsfolly Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 @rps sounds like a great time. Still had some good photos of nice trout. Can't beat that.
