Dutch Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 I’ve been going to Cape Fair lately because it is half the distance that Stockton is. I need a change and am headed to Hartley in the morning.
Smithvillesteve Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 Dutch: I fished Stockton monday afternoon from 2 to 6. Got a little bit of repreive from the heat so I thought i would give the smallies a shot before i headed home. Bright sunshine and very little wind. Tough conditions to bass fish that clear water. I focused mostly on bluff ends and points putting the boat in 25 fow and fan casting the area. Tried a jig, crankbait, shakeyhead and swimbait. Caught a 15 inch walleye on the swimbait and a very small smallie on the shakeyhead. Headed home with my tail between my legs. But it was nice to get out. Never saw another fishing boat. Only sail boats. Bass Yakker 1
Members T.J. Clarke Posted June 22, 2022 Members Posted June 22, 2022 I was there yesterday 6/21/22 trying to get Bass, or Bluegill. I fished the shoreline with the kayak around the southwest boat ramp area. I got skunked big time but enjoyed the lake a lot. It was beautiful, clear, few people of any sorts. Saw 2 fishing boats take out at the ramp, that was it. Stockton Lake and the State Park are a gem! Good luck. Bass Yakker 1

Haven't decided if I will run the yak or my boat yet. I plan to hit deep water along a channel route with focus on points and the channel swings. I need to learn how to fish a drop shot and spoon. May do some deep cranking too...and a big worm. I hear ya about fishing Table Rock due to it being closer...20-30 minutes doesn't sound like much further...but it is. Plus, with gas prices the way they are, that is another $20-30 round-trip....especially pulling a boat. I can be at State Park on Table Rock in at or just under an hour.....Bolivar Landing on Pomme is also about that far from me. Everything else adds 20-45min on my drive one way. Bass Yakker 1
MrGiggles Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 I fished the 18th and yesterday. Sunday was two drum and one short walleye, yesterday I managed three keeper crappie. Been pretty tough. Bass Yakker 1 -Austin
Dutch Posted June 23, 2022 Author Posted June 23, 2022 All I can say is TOUGH. I’m going back to the Rock.

I hear what you are saying Bassin4fun. A round trip for me costs around $45 and tha6 does not include minnows. That does not fit into me budget. snagged in outlet 3 and Bass Yakker 2

Bassin4fun Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 I fished Stockton last night (5pm to 9pm). I found fish off a point that had a flat adjacent to deep water. It was also a transition bank...bluff end turning to chunk rock and smaller rock. I found fish schooling and they were suspended 10-15ft down in 18-30ft of water. I caught one on topwater and lost one. I then caught one off a bluff end cranking a Spro Lil John DD90 that was probably 3-4LBS. There was another just as big on surface that began chasing the one I had hooked...I was hoping he may try to steal that bait...lol. My third catch was in more shallow water after it got dark. I caught that one on a jerkbait. I didn't have anything tied on to fish shallow apart from that jerkbait and a jig. I never even threw the jig. Basically trying to scout spots for the upcoming MoYak kayak tournament there on July 16th. The area I fished seems to be a good spot. I will try a few more and probably prefish those areas closer to tournament time...or at least graph them to see if I am still seeing fish in those areas. Bass Yakker and dan hufferd 2
