My wife has Laser Sight on her Pistol. Her Boss told her most the time put that dot on someone they will give up. YEA RIGHT!

Funny thing is she is over me when we have to check out a building she sends me in and she stays outside.  Because she don't know if she could kill someone.

I told her it is either kill or be killed.

Oneshot, sounds to me like you are "expendable" or as I have referred to it before a speed bump.  Die loud and proud while I either engage or decide to retreat.

I'm kind of a wannabe knife collector.  Somewhere around 30 or so folding knives - some fairly old and worth a little money, others not so much.  And probably that many fixed blades.  Need that many, no way.  I could get by very well with these:

Oddly I  have never been a fan of the Buck 119 or 110 although I have both.  The Buck 119 I own will have to be mine until I  die however.  When my wife was deployed with her Army Reserve unit to Kosovo she asked if I wanted her to bring me anything back when she was closing in on the 6 month rotation time back.  Sure I said how about a knife.  Now I was thinking some oddball piece of crap  knife from the local market or something.  She went to the PX or whatever it was called then AEFES or something and bought me a knife, yep a Buck 119 that i could buy at Wal Mart.  And she was so proud that she had picked out a nice looking knife.  So yeah it's gotta stay.

The cool thing about knife styles shapes etc is it don't matter if everyone else dislike a particular one as long as the owner likes it.  Besides I would probably buy one I was pretty sure I didn't like if the price was right and I didn't already have one.  Life is too short buy more knives I say it's cheaper than smoking or drinking.

Oh I have been told let the young guys do it.

One thing with me there would be no retreat.  I'd have to get up and go but my get up and go has done got up and went.

Here is an example of how I accidentally end up with a new knife.  A few weeks ago I was making an order from Midway, well I was short of the minimum for free shipping.  So I default to knives and found the Cild Steel Slock master and well it somehow ended up in my shopping cart.  It is larger than I anticipated too large in my mind for a hunting knife.  But I love the drop point shape, and non slip handle.  Wish the handle was anything but red but disnt have a choice.  It sharpened up quite nicely.  It would make a decent bug out bag knife, add a cold steel Pendleton Hunter lite a poof two stainless knives that could live in a bug out bag forever.  And no I don't own any stock in Cold Steel but they do have an odd combination of some very well designed knives and a lot of knives that to me are simply pointless, but at of folks must buy them.

It might sound crazy but I like the cheap knives I get from the Mennonites.

Hand forged carbon steel knives are cool.  How good a knife depends a lot on the makers skill and steel used.  Most use old leaf springs which I believe is 5160.   Property worked it can make a fabulous knives.  Poorly done it may not hold an edge or will break easily.  But if the price is right heck yeah IF they have a decent sheath for it.  I have a pet peeve about a lot of semi decent knives with horrible sheaths.  I have a Knives of Alaska knife that is one of my favorite hunting knives however it's sheath is one of my least favorite sheaths. Tougher than you would think to find somebody to make a good sheath without spending more than the knife cost.

My K-Bar is my favorite knife Holds an edge, and you could pound tent stakes or dig a hole with it in addition to its purpose of killing the enemies of the USMC. My Japanese chef knives and Dexter Russel  fillet/boning knives are awesome to. Used to have a nice bench made folder, but it left me. The Gerber Multi Tool in the truck covers about 99% of daily needs.

I have been a collector of Gerber and Leatherman for years.  Daily carry is a Leatherman Folder, Leatherman Wave, and a little Buck Stockman.  But I have a few to choose from.  And this is from a few years ago.  I have added more since.  Just got beat out on an old black Leatherman Supertool on Ebay while I was typing this.
