I've lost hens to owls, hawks, possums, coons, bobcats, coyotes and fox. Birds have to away from the yard in daylight for coyote or bobcat, have to be in the open in daylight for hawks, and possums don't carry them off, but when chickens roost in trees owls will surely take them one at a time. Once had  a momma coon bring her litter to the coop for instruction, and once had a red fox take two or three a day until I secured the pen better, guess she was feeding cubs.

I hope you all know that the new early season for Racoon, opossum and skunk is now open. August 1st until October 15th. They are out of control will less and less people targeting them. Those three stooges tear up more stuff around here. On the first shot a coon with the air rifle. Last night a coon in a trap, night before last a coon and possum. bonus groundhog today. Tear up bird feeders, hummingbird feeders and anything else they can get into.

You used to be able to get a predation permit for them if you could prove they were eating your live stock.

Daughter and I were stalked by a big one where we deer hunt at while we were out at night hunting Hogs... scared the crap out of me,  maybe 25 yards from us.

I wouldn't shoot them without a permit or permission,  some are collared and tracked so when they stop moving they know they're dead...

Shot placement is the key.   There are ways to shoot a problematic critter that will ensure it will die......yet you won't have to dispose of it, or smell it's rotting carcass.

Once an animal has caused ME to suffer, the idea of a quick ethical and humane kill goes out the window.     Jus' sayin.

Go away......and don't come back.  Check! 👍   Feral cats around here get shot in the pancreas because I got tired of hauling them off.

Speaking of this......There was a hell of a commotion the other day, just up from my driveway.  Crows, about 10 of them were all worked up about something, so I go out into the road to look up that way and 2 crows were in the road working over a young rabbit, and all the others were circling around cheering them on.  WHY?

Crows don't eat rabbits !!!!    🤔

I never wait for them to make rules and seasons.  Its mine, I protect it.  Its a feral animal jacking with my stuff.

Its a shame that fur does not bring anything.

Throw it in a crack house and light it up.  2x problems gone and more investigators on the case.

maybe not but they eat road kill or any meat left in my carcass pile when I was trapping. I've seen them take baby squirrels from the nest and catch trout at RRSP. They seem to have no dietary  rules, so maybe they do eat rabbits?

The Code gives permission, call after fact within 24 hours and you are good to go.

(6) Mountain lions may be killed without prior permission if they are attacking or killing livestock or domestic animals, or if they are threatening human safety.

So call the number and hang up.

There's your proof that you called.   If there's ever any drama about it you can say you called to tell them about the lion kill.... and they hung up on you.

Nobody at MDC is interested in hearing your "lion story". 🙄

The less you say, the better off you'll be.
