Johnsfolly Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 @Hawg looks like everyone is having fun. Don't try an lip those bluefish. That will ruin your day 🙄

Hawg Posted September 23, 2022 Author Posted September 23, 2022 Built my first shark rig and hooked a three foot black tip but it broke loose in the surf before I could get my camera out and my son was getting chewed by black flies so we called it a night. 135# steel cable to 80# mono to braid… We were running steel leaders when fishing for reds because the sharks were thick for some reason, maybe all the recent rain…. Also the Crappie Magnet proved to be just as strong of “catch everything” type lure for my son in the salt as it is in freshwater (baby reds, croaker, specked sea trout, pinfish, lady fish, needlefish) Johnsfolly and Quillback 2

We love fishing the trout magnets and crappie magnets. Now my daughter would be jealous of the needlefish. She has been trying to catch one ever since I caught this small one on a white and chartreuse trout magnet here in the Chesapeake a couple of years ago. The ones around us a pretty small in comparison to those down in FL.

There are always a bunch of sharks around. They don't like people much so they stay a little further out, but when the people aren't around they like to feed up close. I chased some baby hammerheads for an entire week down there one time. My wife was the first to spot them. There were 3 in that group and they were just swimming amongst all the kids. I sure would have liked to land one of them on a flyrod but they didn't want to play.
MoCarp Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 I enjoyed this post…growing up there was a blessing fueling my love of all things fishing…. MONKEYS? what monkeys?

One of the guys who works at Sam’s tackle shop, Chris, had just landed a shark on an 8wt in the last week. Ham 1
