fishinwrench Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 With everything in the region low, power demands at a minimum, and no significant precip in the forecast.......WHY are they drawing the lake down already?  Surely they have a reason, I would just love to know what it is. 🤔 Could it be to energize all those cars that won't run on dinosaur juice? DADAKOTA Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Heard they pulled Truman down for some sort of repair work. Drawing LOZ to create space if we get rain? fishinwrench 1

How many times have I heard them say......"We don't alter LO discharges based upon what Truman is doing"?Â
DADAKOTA Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 If Truman can't take a rise then it all goes to LOZ
MOPanfisher Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I would say it has more to do with generation which equals $. And zero precip to run off. Pretty much every lake that has hydropower is in the same boat low due to generation and no inflow. LOZ has the benefit of water from Teuman during generation so they can generate with it too. I have never heard LOZ doesn't react to what Truman does before, I have heard and said the Truman doesn't react to what LOZ wants. Even non power lakes are getting low due to no runoff rains. fishinwrench, nomolites and Daryk Campbell Sr 2 1

If they didn't react when an upstream dam discharged, they'd be putting their own dam in danger.

Oh I know!  But whenever they are pushed to make a statement on LO water levels..... that's what they say.  The old hands, when UE controlled this lake, did a FINE JOB !  But anytime a new generation of engineers/biologists/ ect. take over a project, they just HAVE TO drastically change things (make their mark) and ignore the fact that a level of perfection was already reached. 🙄  They can say whatever they want, but the REAL REASON for the drastic winter drawdowns is to keep the milfoil in check...... because bouji homeowners don't like it, and property values are effected by it. 🙄

bfishn Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Barge tows are running aground on the mid/lower Mississippi almost daily now, with corn & bean loads getting stranded. If they can profit from discharging to aid that situation, makes sense to me. I can't dance like I used to.

I believe it's called "Eurasian water milfoil'......so I'm gonna make the assumption that it's native to Eurasia...... wherever that is. 🤔 Whatever it is, the fish LOVE IT ! And I miss it. Â
