MOPanfisher Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 I have the st croix in UL fun but too soft, 6ft LF possibly my favorite crappie white bass whatever rod ever, 6,6" med lite and it is a close second after modifications. The mods included cutting off a couple inches of handle because it was always catching on my belly when sitting and then balancing the rod so that it balances on my index finger. After doing the first one a few years ago it is amazing how it changes the feel of the rod. All of mine have been balanced and I am not a cool make it look pretty guy, I drilled some different size holes in an oak board to different depths and then would use electrical tape to temporarily weight it and see how I liked it. More than one never got anything else than some more electrical tape and have been on there for a long time. Daryk Campbell Sr, Terrierman and rps 3

I can easily cast 1/16 and smaller including microjigs with both. I prefer the 7' Air Stream UL rod. With 2# line I can get a pretty good cast with microjigs. 4# works well with 1/32 oz jigs or larger also small cranks or rosstertail type spinners. It has enough backbone to handle decent size fish. Air stream.....and when you find them buy more than 1. Terrierman 1
Dutch Posted October 13, 2022 Author Posted October 13, 2022 I bought the St Croix LF 6’6”. I’ll try it next time out. May be a while as the boat is in for some warranty items and I am in KY. The lady in customer service said I could bring it back within 60 days if it didn’t work out. Terrierman and FishnDave 2

When I make a rod, I epoxy lead weights inside the butt end of the blank before I install the handle. I has the same effect as having the large knob at the handle end of the sword. It moves the balance point closer to your hand. Casting becomes less effort at minimal cost to the total weight of the rod. Daryk Campbell Sr and MOPanfisher 2
