aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 https://www.landbigfish.com/ lots of good deals on there, from line to Rock Crawlers
Quillback Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 Spro has come out with a Rock Crawler 50 DD, don't see it for sale at LBF. TW will probably have it on sale once they start, but their sale is only 15%.

tjm Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Up to 50% off sounds like a good deal. They actually get pretty good reviews on other forums, but I still have some 1970s rods so not really in the market. If I was looking though I might be interested in one of those Fast glass blanks.

tjm Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Not that much more than Sage prices of ~$1000, and FarBank didn't advertise a Black Friday deal, or GLoomis $900-$1200. I haven't shopped new flyrods for a long time other than a glance or two in passing at the fly shops. but, with inflation what it is those prices seem comparable to 1977 top rod prices of $150-$200. I own about 15-20 old fly rods so not really looking, but what is a new "best rod, best price"?
Flysmallie Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 I’ve used some 1,000 dollar rods. My 200 & 300 rods work just as good as those for me. But don’t kid yourself, Epic does not have the name that Sage does.
tjm Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Same same to me, name wise. Both four letter words. But Sage is a production rod and I don't think Epic is yet, might be a better comparison with Mike McFarland or Chris Barclay or Graywolf?
fishinwrench Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 There was a time that you truly had to stick with a certain few manufacturers if you wanted a genuinely sweet rod......but those days are gone. I've fished with almost all of them and I promise that if a rod/reel/line outfit is balanced to your liking, then you can't notice the difference between a 300.00 rig, and a 1600.00 rig. All you're paying for with Sage and a few others is WARRANTY, and slightly better cork. You're buying 3 rods and getting one that they'll replace a couple times IF YOU BREAK IT. And the manufacturer will still be making money if they do. They know that if you pay 900.00+ for a rod that (warranty or not) you're gonna be REALLY CAREFUL WITH IT ! 😁
