Sad to hear, Jim was my first draw in the old CPAA, had the pleasure of fishing with him a couple of times. Got a lesson in early winter fishing docks.

Eakins was a junction, like Don Butler, Joe Krieger, and Buck Perry. From there we have disciples. Bill Dance, Jimmy Whats His Name , somebody Martin. Eakins went the way of finesse, and slow, and on the bottom. Now that everyone power fishes, Eakin's legacy shines bright.

Sorry to hear. May he Rest In Peace. Condolences to the family.

Like dblades, I had the opportunity to draw him out a couple of times in the old CPAA days. He gave me a lot of insight into his jig fishing “system”.
