netboy Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Wow. I was on a 28 day in country and 28 day home schedule and used to commute from Houston to Kuwait, Nigeria, Angola, Trinidad, Brazil and other garden spots where oil was found for the last 15 years of my working life. I always felt safer getting on the airplane than driving my truck to the airport in the Houston traffic. Terrierman, Daryk Campbell Sr, ColdWaterFshr and 1 other 4

The components of aircraft are THINGS, and things that fail.... typically do so while in use.......THAT fact is statistically proven. The safety statistics are proven too. Don't worry though, being irrational about flying or other ways to travel is also a thing. bfishn 1

Everyone has their own logic and reasoning, and therefore sets their own personal limits. You'll never see me riding a motorcycle on the highway around here either. Too many deer smears on the roads.....just doesn't feel smart to ME. Everyone else can go right ahead if they want. 👍
fishinwrench Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Statistically, when you start talking statistics of land travel vs. air travel, you first must even the playing field. Put as many airplanes in the sky as there are vehicles on the ground.......THEN we can compare statistics. 😅
oneshot 1 Posted April 1, 2023 Author Posted April 1, 2023 I have flown many times. I depend on the Pilot and Equipment but it don't matter what Equipment. The last week have depended on my Son and my Car. It don't matter what I'm in what will be will be. I could drop dead just sitting here. oneshot Terrierman and Daryk Campbell Sr 2

Still preferable to enduring a fiery crash......that you had to schedule, wait in line, and pay for. 😂 If I ever fly I'm grabbing a stewardess titty for good measure......cuz it might be my last chance. 👍
Jerry Rapp Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 I have flown many, many times in most types of air craft, but a friend of mind summed it up pretty good one time. "You can't get out and push an airplane if it dies"
Terrierman Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 As long as we're talking about bad ways to die, I always thought of a hitch in the Navy as prison, with a chance of drowning. fishinwrench 1

I catch hell from my "veteran" buddies all the time for not "serving my country". 🥱 My response is always the same..... "Dude, you forget that I knew you when you signed up🙄. The only reason you allowed yourself to be recruited is because you had a chick pregnant, her dad was threatening to kill you....and YOUR dad was fixin' to let him. You had NO JOB, a warrant for your arrest, and your only possession at the time was a rusty Malibu with a blown transmission, and a dirt bike with flat tires. You giving yourself to the government for 4 years was NOT because of your love for America ! I'm glad that you have something to thump your chest about now......but YOU didn't accomplish jack $#!t on your own......like I did. So F.O. with all your "I served my country, and you didn't" BS. I was stateside paying my TAXES so that THEY could get paid for their INTERVENTION & rehabilitation. Shuts them right up. 🙄 Daryk Campbell Sr 1
