jdmidwest Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Seriously, how fast are you running with a boatload of 8 people to make it that high up on the house. Not that "far up the hill" but "that high on the house"? LOZ is a fairly dangerous place... https://www.kfvs12.com/2023/07/23/driver-arrested-after-boat-crashes-into-house-lake-ozarks-injuring-eight-people/ Bass Yakker and grizwilson 1 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. fishinwrench Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 A Step-hull Nordic is not the type of boat that you can just casually cruise around in. You've gotta be going at least 47mph just to keep the nose down. The "Property Barron's" are steadily taking each other out. It's actually very interesting watching this play out in real time. 🤔 grizwilson 1
jdmidwest Posted July 24, 2023 Author Posted July 24, 2023 Looks like he had some air bouncing off that point. Wonder if any security cameras caught it? "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

That house is all the way out on a point by itself so probably not. There is a channel swing I fish regularly right there and I have often admired that house. Not so much now. jdmidwest Posted July 25, 2023 Author Posted July 25, 2023 He needs to move the house back a little so they can just jump over it in front of him. Wonder if he was running on maps or just being stupid drunk. I was on Clearwater Lake this weekend, Lowrance built in inland maps showed me running in 20' of water and my graph was showing only a few feet. I was seeing timber and switched over to the Navionics chip, it had been corrected since they drained the lake down to keep it from leaking years back. Those maps will get you if you are not paying attention. Bass Yakker 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
fishinwrench Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 We are finding out more about that powerboat accident late Saturday night at 1.3-mile mark of the Osage Arm that sent eight people to the emergency room. Lake Ozark Fire Chief Marc Carr says, based on preliminary information received during the 9-1-1 call, emergency personnel weren’t real sure about the magnitude of the incident. “On that initial call…..They didn’t know for sure how many there were. They were just awakened by a loud bang and then stepped out to literally find (boat) parts scattered all over their backyard.” Upon arrival, it was discovered that the boat hit the shore before going airborne and striking the house, then ejecting all eight of the people on board when it overturned. As of Monday afternoon, it was reported that five of the injured had been released from the hospital with the other three, including the driver of the boat 47-year-old Adam Ramirez of Huntington Beach, California, still listed in critical condition. One of the passengers seriously hurt was also identified as 28-year-old Alex Pratt, of Pratt Racing and the “Good Boy Vodka” boat out of Niles, Michigan. The driver of the boat, according to the highway patrol, is being charged with boating while intoxicated causing serious and other physical injury. BilletHead 1
jdmidwest Posted July 26, 2023 Author Posted July 26, 2023 That charge will only stick if he survives. Any word on how fast they were traveling? I have a few in our Company that run those for fun on Table Rock and LOZ. Never been to any of the boats for a ride. I have seen footage of them running Tickfaw, they go pretty fast. Local customer out of Farmington runs one too. One of my buddie's boat mechanic builds them on Pickwick, big ole chunk of boat. I never see them running on Pickwick for some reason. All kinds there from little jons and sail boats to cabin cruisers and tugs with barges. But never a race boat. They know RPM of the 3 outboards (from key ON to CRASH)......thanks to the ECM data. The word in my circle is that they suspect DTS runaway failure (not all that uncommon on computer controlled outboards.... believe it or not). DTS = "Digital Throttle & Shift". All males that were onboard are highly experienced operators sponsored by Mercury Marine Racing. Of course the law will immediately blame the Margarita's, but I am gonna lay most of the blame on Mercury's fantastic digital technology. They need to reel that crap in.....This ain't the first time, or the second, or the third, or the forth, or the......you get the idea😳 I darn sure won't work on them. NooooWaaaaay! Give me CABLES and LINKAGE, or take that Stepford bastard elsewhere. 👉 No Bluetooth/servo controlled throttle/ignition and kill switch for me, thank you ! Watch the prices of those POS go up even more substantially after some forthcoming litigation. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
