I like the hot pepper idea.  OK to be honest I like the .17 hmr option, but ya can't always be there.

I put the last few on injured reserve.  They may be filing insurance claims because I haven’t seen any in the last couple of days.

That will blow them up. I used to use one. A Remington auto. It was recalled due to stove piping the case. You could literally head shoot one and destroy the front legs.

In the retirement community where we live, firearms are prohibited. A creek not owned by the community runs directly behind our unit and, on the other side, roughly 200 acres of rough, never developed land sits. We see coyotes, rabbits, squirrels, foxes, and raptors frequently. All in the middle of Tulsa.

BH, is your pellet gun a pump up or a CO2 cartridge? Make?

It is a Pre charged Pneumatic (PCP) You charge it with a Tank that is filled by a High-pressure Compressor. It can be a bit expensive to get into it but well worth it. My Uncle got me started by gifting me a couple low end rifles. Curses Uncle John! Anyway, I really enjoy it just shooting and hunting with it.   It is an FX Crown .25 Cal Here in Missouri; it is considered a firearm.  Even the small .177 Cal is considered a firearm. Not all states are that way.

Maybe as a hunting device, but the air powered guns are not regulated as firearms.  Only smokeless powder ones are considered as Firearms by the ATF.  Even Black Powder ones can be purchased over the counter.

As far as MDC is concerned, its 40 cal or larger for deer.  And small game air rifles  are regulated by species season.  Local regulations regarding the discharge of something lethal vary.  Air power guns may be overlooked.  As long as they do not present a safety hazard.  I have not researched OK laws.

When MDC has places where no Firearms are allowed air rifles regardless of size are considered firearms. No fire or ignition involved.  I have a couple places that are an easy walk through some big timber. I can only do that at a specific time. Local laws in some places allow discharge of air rifles in city limits. Other places have more restrictive regulations.

Will a wounded squirrel if it survives come back to the place where it got popped or is their brain too small for remembrance?  I prefer to pop in a non lethal area thus I don’t have a corpse to throw out.

I know it's highly unethical, but this is what I have started doing with feral cats.  I'm tired of picking their nasty asses up and hauling them away, so I quit with the head shots.   I give them two chances to realize they aren't wanted, and that there's nothing for them here.....If they don't get the hint they get a pellet in the pancreas, and they  have to run off and suffer elsewhere.

I see those on docks and around gardens everywhere.    But here's the thing.....A critter doesn't know what an owl can do to them until it's too late.
