But when I was a kid it wouldn't have bothered me. Somewhere around the time I turned 25 I figured out that I had become terrified of heights. I don't know why and when that change truly occurred. Wore climbing gear all day, and still don't have any hair on my lower legs because of it. Nowadays I get lightheaded & nervous if I stand on a chair to change a lightbulb. 😂

Once your 30' you might as well be 130' ! Did 4 galvanized tower builds at 80' in Excelsior Springs..... honestly thought I was gonna puke. That sway when you get over 50' is something I don't think anyone can get over, even if you did it everyday for years. Strung poles are pretty solid.

jdmidwest Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 All I saw was a guy on a ledge. This may have led to suicide. I'm sure you have hot sticked a 34 KV line off a pole also. When I was an apprentice and about to break out as a full fledged lineman my company supervisor asked me what I thought I might be lacking. I said work hot sticking off a pole. Next thing you know My Forman got orders for a couple days. He was mad as a hatter. We were to go out and change insulators on 10-foot crossarms off the pole with hot sticks. If you do not know what that is about, and I had no idea at the time what it entailed I can see why Odie was so mad. I was so sore and wish I had said nothing. Like this but higher voltage. I am so glad that part of my life is done.
