  1. I agree. It is interesting. I try to limit how much I use it actually. Last weekend I got so tired of seeing so many fish, but could not get them to bite, I just turned it off. I would rather not get bites thinking there are no fish there like the good old days.
  2. So sorry Phil, it is tough. I know exactly what you mean about not knowing if you want to go through that again. We have enjoyed watching him on One Cast & seeing him at the resort for all these years. My wife had commented about how sad it will be when he is gone. Our grand dog would sit in front of our tv & watch him when he was on One Cast. Remember the good times. He is up there chasing otters.
  3. I will offer my review: We pulled the trigger on the Eagle Eye 9 back before Christmas. On sale at Academy for $799. I'm pretty impressed actually. Easy to install and use. I won't be trolling around in open water targeting fish like people do with LS, but I really like it for locating structure, especially shallow, without having to go over the top of it. We can easily tell how far away it is and in what depth. You can see if there are fish on or around it. 90% time we anchor & cast jig & float for crappie. I really like it so far. I try not to just sit and stare at it but it is hard not to. This past Sat. we were catching crappie on structure sitting about 30 ft. away. I saw a fish swimming off to the side of the stumps. I cast to it & caught a nice 14 in. white bass. Pretty cool. I agree with what Bill Babler said in another post... It can eliminate water which amounts to time. Our most precious commodity.
  4. Every spring I look forward to warmer weather, fishing, & Cardinals spring training. Kind of hard to get excited about the latter when Lars Nootbaar is your most famous player. Have to give them a chance I guess. As is tradition, I will go fishing tomorrow, find a nice quiet cove, toss out a minnow & bobber, eat a bologna sandwich, & listen to the game on the radio.
  5. Good point. Or in the case of the Winona cop who told me as he was writing me a ticket on Hwy. 60, at least a half mile before entering the reduced speed zone.
  6. Ozark Media Co on YouTube has some good NuCanoe videos. Not sure if you have seen them or not.
  7. I loved the Jan. 24 One Cast. "It's sleeting, we've had 3 or 4 inches of snow, the wind is blowing, I can't see. I'm the only one on the lake believe it or not." Kudos for getting out there. The white bite was good.
  8. Awesome will definitely check it out. Back in the day our ABC station was KAIT Jonesboro I enjoyed watching Outdoors in the Delta, as well as Ozark Outdoors with Crowbar and Jason.
  9. I can relate. My longtime coworker retired & moved up to the Big Smoke (as he calls it) up by St. Louis. He complained that he couldn't find the brand of corn bread we use to make our award-winning Mexican cornbread. I purchased five boxes, boxed them up to ship them USPS 170 miles due north to him. They went to Cape, then to St. Louis, then to Georgia, Alabama, then to parts unknown. I requested tracking for it. Six months later I received an email stating they could not locate the package & the tracking had expired. I remember thinking what if this had been something important.
  10. Good information Bill. I can definitely see where that might be the case. In my experience we pretty well have just fished structure that we knew. Sometimes we catch em sometimes we don't. I've never been one for trolling or fishing open water much but can see where that might be something to consider.
  11. Kudos. Nice to hear these days. It is interesting to hear how often fish are suspended in open water. Water looks nice & calm too. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Well I carefully sprayed the parts cleaner, blew it dry, the sprayed on the silicone lubricant. When I went to hook the battery back up it tries to start without turning the key. Have to leave the battery disconnected. Never seen this before.
  13. Good to know, hope that works on mine. The battery voltage is 12.4
  14. I did re-read the posts and noted this. The starter is only a year & half old so I hope it's not #2. I will try option 3 first seems like the easiest. And check the battery connections. Thanks Wrench
  15. Before asking Wrench for help I searched for a similar post....I am having the same issue with the starter on my 2000 25 hp Mercury/Tracker. I was wondering what lube did you use and did you remove the starter or just spray it on while on the motor?
  16. Good point. I would have no problem sitting out on the farm if there were no boats. I did see a nice buck following a couple of does along the bank.
  17. I have to admit deer season opening weekend is my favorite weekend to go fishing. Went fishing on Wapp, in addition to the nice temperatures probably didn't see four other boats on the water, none close to us. Far cry from the parking lot being almost full when we get there and boats surrounding us or running up and down the lake all day.
  18. Sorry I'm not much of a fly fisherman so I can't add anything. I thought it might be a thread about old girlfriends. Still interesting though....
  19. Agree completely...Won't leave home without it. That "completely random" attack by that nut on that couple while hiking at Devil's Den was the last straw for me.
  20. Yum! I bet that was fun (and tasty). What a larapin leftover fish sandwich that would make with some pickles and vidalia onion. Hard to imagine catching bluegills 25' deep.
  21. I agree 100%. I think boujie is the word? Hopefully not. After visiting for many years it would be sad to see it change like that. I love the old fishin' cabin feel but definitely see the need for updating & modernizing. Lilley's does it right. Congrats Phil. We just stayed at Lazy Valley this past weekend as we needed three rooms Lilley's only had two. I thought it was great. A bit dated but clean and I loved the wood & trout border on the walls, the old stove, table, etc. They did tell me they plan on still having the fishing cabin feel just updated. When we were leaving they were starting on the rooms by ours and I could see them putting tongue & groove wood on the walls so maybe it will be Ok.
  22. Thanks for the report. I am considering the Eagle Eye 9. Any updates since the last post?
  23. Can always be worse.... “Being 70 is the worst!” The 70 year old exclaims. “Every morning at 7, I wake up to pee, but nothing comes out!” “Oh, that’s nothing!” The 80 year old says. “Each morning at 8, I wake up to poop, and I sit on the toilet for what seems like hours, but nothing comes out!” “Oh, that’s nothing” The 90 year old says. “I have it the worst!” “Can you pee?” The first man asks. “Certainly! Every morning at 7, I pee like a champion.” “Can you poop?” The second man asks. “Yes I can! Each morning at 8, I have a regular bowel movement.” “Then I don’t understand what the problem is!” The first man says. “Well, I don’t wake up until 9!”
  24. I missed the first game. I tuned in last night to see the fights and a hockey game broke out....... I agree I was rooting for the US, but it was hard not to pull for Jordan Binnington. I haven't watched much hockey since the 2019 Blues-Bruins Finals, which was fun to watch.
