Silk, polyester, nylon, Dacron,  Spectra , Dyneema are all braids that were used in the 20th century, and as far as I know still are.  When you say "nothing like the new braids" what braids are you talking about? are they made of one or more of these fibers?

Well what I would consider “Super Lines” that came out in the 90’s are much thinner diameter.

ps. Took me 2 seconds to look it up and get the material. It’s completely different than the old lines and has great benefits but IMHO the bad aspects don’t outweigh the good.

That's a long time to live without catching a crappie or a bluegill.  Or throwing a Rapala Minnow, Roostertail or Mepps spinner.

Surely you aren't gonna tell me you prefer a Zebco 33 to a spinning reel.

I can throw all of that on a bait caster. And I can do it better than I can on a spinning reel. I’m not saying that it works for everyone but it works for me.

When I was 7 or 8 my uncle took my Zebco from me and gave me a new setup with an Ambassador 2500 on it. Told me to figure it out because I wasn’t using a Zebco anymore.

Those are all  gel spun polyethylene and made using  either Spectra (Honeywell) or Dyneema (DSM )

So is it braid or “Knot”? 😂

That is the way I feel about a lot of the "new and improved"  things we have today. and why I don't use fluorocarbon.

When I read or hear "braid" in reference to fish line my first thought always is "Dacron or Nylon?" Then I remember the "super braids" and that raises another question. It's almost the same thing as a person equating "monofilament" with nylon and saying "I never use mono", while he is using monofilament made of fluorocarbon. Public schools must not teach English as a language any more.

I was fishing a senko on braid with fluoro leader and wanted to switch to a jerk bait but didn’t want switch out reels to straight fluoro.  I tied the jerk on braid/fluoro setup and got after it.
I could actually feel fish swipe at it.  Feeling that helped me dial in the cadence they preferred.   I turned the drag way back and honestly it worked out pretty well.

I always use my braid/fluoro bass setups when fishing jerkbaits for trout, but never for bass for somer reason. I've always used a 6.5' medium fast casting setup and 10# mono or fluoro when I fish a jerkbait for bass. There's not really a logical reasoning for this that I can come up with right away either.

You better let Tackle Warehouse, Bass Pro, and every other tackle shop that they aren't categorizing their lines properly.
