P-Line CX Premium is what I like to use, but it's getting hard to find.

The CXX is a bit too stiff and wirey for my taste.

I bought some 3 pound P line for jig fishing at Taney.  I swear that stuff is 6 pound test strength.  Slick too.

Look at the diameter per pound test.

Not necessarily so. I built and use a casting rod for Neds. Champ and Quillback have seen it. Choose the right blank, use micro guides, spiral wrap, put a quality reel, like a Revo MGX or a Daiwa Steez or Zillion, on it, and you do not need to mess with hay balers.

I love those finesse bait caster rods.

there is a company called B And R Outlaw rods that make an excellent light jig finesse Baitcaster rod. And it’s fairly close to STL in Collinsville, IL.

Are they manufacturing rods now?  Ark Rods in Harrison used to build them.  I have one that I got from Ark that couldn’t be shipped to B&R because it was marked 7’ and was actually only 6’11”.

I have to check up on them… I haven’t bought one in years

In regards to fluorocarbon, I said this somewhere once before to the agreement of some and disagreement of others and I'll say it again:  Fluorocarbon is the hot girl of fishing line.  It's flashy, popular with all the guys, loves being noticed and works awesome when it's in a good mood.  It's also high maintenance, very temperamental, has to be pampered and will leave you absolutely heartbroken without any notice.........

That being said, I will spool my spinning rods with 8 lb red label in the winter and will use what's left as leader material to braid when I throw little swimbaits on a spinning rod while float fishing in the summer.  For the vast majority of the rest of my fishing, I prefer just using regular mono, tying the knots I want to tie and avoiding all the excess "drama"..........

3lbs Maxima is all I run for my jig setups. Throws like 2# with the strength of 4#!

I find myself using 15# mono more and more these days on my casting gear for the same reasons you've mentioned. Once I use up the rest of my 10# spool of Trilene 10% fluorocarbon, I will probably go with Trilene XT or Maxima Ultragreen and start using that for my leaders on my spinning/braid combos.
