kjackson Posted January 22 Posted January 22 It is raining, sort of, here, but looking out my office window to the roof, I see it is still covered with a thin coat of the slick stuff. I'm thinking I'll work on some crappie flies today and maybe bake something fattening. BilletHead 1
BilletHead Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Treacherous Here in Vernon County Mo. We have seen way more ice on elevated places tearing up jack. This rain however is freezing from the ground up. Crazy slick. Pat has worked two places in 35 years, and this is the first time we did not get her to work. The clinic has called off a couple days but the new entity that took it over (hospital) I guess does not do that. I drove the mile and a half on slick gravel road to the blacktop highway and then up to a corner and back to dirt. She has a Honda Pilot, and it does better than my truck getting around. So I could get going not to exceed 15 mph but stopping was a no way. Had to anticipate moves and let the drive train slow you down. Have a hill north of the house and going downhill I slowly tried to brake. Nope let off the brake and let it straighten itself. I got her rig parked and said no not going in this morning. Maybe later? 34 and melting now with a high of 35 today. Actually, this makes it worse since the ground is so cold. Seeing the wet on the top could give a false sense of security because it just gives the ice lubrication. Pat is building a puzzle and I have tied a balanced minnow. Back and forth to the shop. To the naysayers I am charging my new lithium trolling motor battery. Terrierman Posted January 22 Posted January 22 It is still 32 here and raining steady. As bad slick as I can recall ever.
Quillback Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 I thought it was melting, but upon further review it is not.

I say no dear you aren't.😁 Her last day of work is March 15th. 🫨 Daryk Campbell Sr, ness and Quillback 3 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" ness Posted January 22 Posted January 22 It's fairly nasty over here too -- all the streets are glazed over. Thankfully there's nothing on the trees. A while back the snow plow got stuck in front of the house on the slight hill. He backed down and gave it another try, all the while with the salt/sand going. He made it fine, and we got a triple dose. It looks like a beach out there We're over freezing now but it's overcast so not sure we'll get much melting. Rain expected overnight around freezing temps. Quillback Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 It has finally melted here. Temps in the upper 30's now. Later on this week we are predicted to see 50's. The snow will be gone along with the bitter cold, I may get out and fish. BilletHead, snagged in outlet 3 and Daryk Campbell Sr 3
