There was a radio controlled car/toy called Typhoon II when I was a kid.   I wanted that thing so bad.   It was a much smaller version of this. I found the commercial. 

 

  Recently I seen a YouTube video where a group of guys bought one and were putting it through its paces, it seemed to not be nearly as cool as I would have expected.

                       We bought this Tyco radio control for our son. Christmas present. What a hoot! He (WE) had so much fun with it. It was cold that Christmas season and the ponds were frozen over plus snow on the ground. He ran it on the ice and snow and that thing would really move. Of course, no brakes and you had to be on your game to keep it from smashing into the pond bank.

So you gotta buy the deluxe model to get brakes, but that'll do 45 fwd and 25 in reverse w/6 people on flat water. With selective braking, a pilot worth his salt could show 4-5 adults a ride you can't get at the carnival/Branson jet boat experience, but on the James. Good to be onboard, sux bad to be in the way.

No they float.   There's a couple that run around here.   They actually look like more fun over land than over water.   It has to be FLAT land though.  They can't climb a hill or go up a boat ramp.  Downhill is fine.
