Sooo...... my oldest has joined the school fishing team, which means ol' dad has been scrambling to get back into bassin'.  He'll be fishing out of his partner's boat on Sunday, but I'm hauling mine down as well so we can split up to prefish Saturday.  I've never fished Bull Shoals below K dock and we're normally just chasing whites, crappie, walleye during the spring.  I've stocked up on gear so I at least know we'll have the right baits in the boat.  The tournament weigh-in is down by the dam.  The other dad and I (both sub-par fishers) have been pouring over maps to come up with a game plan.

So here's my question....

Mid-lake (Music, Big Creek area) has a few spots that have peaked my interest, but I'm trying to figure out how far it is back to the weigh-in (we get to start wherever we want).  Have I lost my mind with thinking it's worth it to run that far?  My lil Lowe 170 with a 70hp ain't breaking no speed records.  Should I go back to the maps to find somewhere closer to the town of Bull Shoals?

*you thought I was gonna hit you up for fishing spots didn't you?

We're gonna have fun and it's going to be a learning experience. If the boys catch a few keepers and get to walk across the stage at weigh-in, I'll call it a win.  Heck, if we don't find the bass, we might just call an audible, head up a creek, and see if we can find some whites or walleye!

Thanks in advance....

A lot depends on the wind also. But Once Again, I have to agree with  fishinwrench, maybe 10 miles.

I just Dis-Like agreeing with the wrench, but here lately it has been happening, way to often.

Y'all are hard on the Wrench!

They are definitely harder on ME than I am on THEM, aren't they?

It's ok, helps me to understand the last election 😉  To some folks it isn't about what you do..... it's about what you say, or how you say it. 🙄  Can't help it, I'm a "grab 'em by the coochie" kinda guy 😅

I have made the run from Bull Shoals to K dock a few times. I wouldn't do it again, and I was in a boat that would move.

I would spend my pre-fishing time closer to Bull Shoals. There is a lot of good fishing in that area.

Well.....turns out where we launched didn't matter.  We decided to split up for pre-fishing, my son and I drove to Hwy 125 to fish Big Creek and our partners put in at Oakland to hit areas around Mountain and Gulley Creeks.  They never caught a fish.  We dropped the boat, started it up, put it in gear, and it died.  Never would fire up again.

Tournament day I sent them out in the partner's boat and they never got a bite.  I fished off the bank below our rental house for a couple hours.  Caught 1 keeper and a short, plus a handful of follows, all on a green craw RkCrawler. Had 1 bite on a gr pmpkn jig.

Now I get to figure out what's wrong with the boat before next month's tourny on LOZ!

better get a bigger boat for LOZ.

Not necessarily true.

I have plenty of customers with Lowe 170's and they fish plenty 👍

Not competitively......but they FISH.  😉
