An Aldi just opened up in the former Lucky’s market space a couple blocks from me. The selection is sparse, but what is there has been good quality and well priced. We buy allot of staples there. Prime rib is all about the grade of meat. Get some USDA prime, for the least amount of $.

Costco used to have excellent steaks, they’ve made 2 mistakes recently IMO.
1. They used to cut the caps off the ribeyes and tie them together with string which makes an excellent Cap steak, but the leftover meat on the ribeye after the cap was cut off was just a plain, non marbled crappy steak that that tried to sell as ribeyes. Didn’t work well.

2. The general quality of steaks has gone way downhill in the last 5 years. The taste is so bland. Someone told me it’s because they buy old milk cows now….cant prove it but I will say the steaks there in general have gotten pretty bad.

I think I’m gonna stick with Sam’s…seem to be better or maybe just buy my steaks at Dierbergs or a local butcher.

Costco steaks have definitely changed.   Maybe it’s imported now?    A regenerative farmer on Rogan said 80% of beef sold in the USA is now imported.   It can be passed off as American beef if the whole carcass is processed in the US.  Costco meat is cheap.  Maybe be this is why.  🤷‍♂️

Current policy allows imported meat to bear a “Product of U.S.A.” label provided it passes through a USDA-inspected plant. It is a heavily exploited loophole that has allowed multinational corporations to import meat, repackage it, and pass it off as a higher-quality product raised by U.S. farmers and ranchers.Mar

Aldis has good prices on lamb and sometimes fruit.

I saw that, on the lamb. Boy Oh Boy, my Oma could make it so well. For you hardheads, Oma is Grandma in German
