From what I read on the stadium deal is there is still something like 6 years to come up with a solution, so they will poke around and try someplace else in the KC area.

The tax has 8 more years before it runs out -- they were just looking to extend it now for 40 years. There's more time to get it done.

The teams didn't do a very good job this go-around. The Royals cobbled together a stadium plan that folks didn't like, tied the Chiefs into it and made veiled threats that both teams might leave if they didn't get it passed. The plan was to jam it into downtown, displace a bunch of businesses and a large church, and tried to say there was adequate parking already. Parking is already tight down there. We sat in a parking garage for an hour waiting to get out a couple months ago after a show at T-Mobile Center. Never again.

Typical of the major league teams.  Threaten to leave if you don’t buck up.

And their strategy was to tie the Chiefs in to the tax to make it scarier to say no. If the Royals had tried to do this on their own, they wouldn't have gotten the 42% of the vote they did.

Other cities have made downtown ballparks work and I'm sure we could too, but the plan needs to workable.

How is it getting in and out of Busch?

The teams did a poor job of providing a workable package.  Lots of unknowns and unexplained items.  The biggest reason it failed was because of the property tax debacle and folks were going to get even.

From what I’ve heard it was the location more than anything. I’ve been to a smaller music venue, that would have lost its place, and it’s always been horrible parking around there. If you can’t find parking when 300 people are going to see a band, how are you going to have parking for the five hundred people that want to watch the Royals.

The Truman, maybe? Last time we were there it was standing only. Just a handful of places to sit. We won't do that again.

Fubo - I guess some games are blacked out.

If you get MLB package, are any blacked out?  I wonder if I can cast it to my TV?

I think the setup you guys have is great out there...  No?

I hear it's the best tailgate atmosphere because it's all on site.  Why don't they rebuild there?

Lot's of folks like it, including me. And, yes, the tailgating is great. That's part of why it's hard to get folks on board for a change. But, there's nothing but the stadiums out there. The hotel across I-70 from the stadiums has been closed for a few years. The closest place to eat, a Denny's :D, burned down last year. It feels like to me that with the money they're talking about they could spruce up both stadiums and create a destination entertainment district. And, if they could get a rolling roof for Arrowhead, there could be a lot more events down there too.

Chiefs main owner, John Sherman, is saying no matter what, the Royals are out of The K in 2030.

We are getting 4 World Cup games out there in '26, which is a big deal for KC. I think that's soccer :D
