I have no idea how much force is involved but it would be something like the speed of the current times the weight of the log jam. And it has the potential to move itself on down to the railroad bridge. GRDA doesn't own the bridges and from their viewpoint the log raft is posing no problem. Not a problem for me either, but it is interesting. Think that would be safe to do in the 10-50(?) mph current? The lower end is holding all of that, so would be like taking out a key that turns the rest loose to run down stream after the engineers? Toward the trestle. On the five to seven days quanitive rain forecast map this drainage is supposed to get another 3 to five more inches. tjm 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" jdmidwest
Free firewood for all. That kind of pressure could really jack something up. I would not really feel safe crossing that bridge. Doubt if the engineers ever took in account all that weight with the current pressure pushing against it. ollie
Drove over the bridge yesterday on my way back from Tulsa. As a friend of mine said, "you have to see it to believe it"! It is a mess, no doubt about it and now they have people stopping along the sides of the bridge just to take pics. They also have closed the boat ramp down due to high water as well so you couldn't put in there if you wanted to. On a side note, the snagging on the park in Miami seems to be on fire right now with the higher water! snagged in outlet 3, tjm and Terrierman 3 "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek! ollie
Just a quick update on the log jam. Apparently some of it broke free and headed downstream, but from what I saw it only went to the side of the park where the boat launch is! I'm not sure it has even made it to the RR trestle downstream. tjm and snagged in outlet 3 2 "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
