Members GotaFish
This is just a sad story, the Huzzah looks like it was doing pretty good, but this illegal activity has taken a significant toll on the small mouth population. snagged in outlet 3 and Mitch f
jdmidwest
The Huzzah never looked like any stream that I wanted to spend time on. Went by the big campground on Highway 8 this afternoon, too crowded. I have waded the Courtois and been ran over by floaters, never figgered that one out either. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. The floaters saw these dudes spearing and netting the fish and when they got back to the take out they reported to the conservation department. They immediately went back and busted them. fishinwrench
It's been 2 decades since I've spent time on Huzzah cr......and either the fishing has improved drastically, or there are a few things I'd like to learn from the Hondurans!

It's a fun walk and wade stream in the fall when the water is low and the canoe rentals aren't running anymore. I don't even like canoeing it without a fishing pole during the summer. Not that it has anything you'd call a rapid, but the riffles are way too narrow for playing dodge-a-tube to be fun.

tjm
So if you don't like the stream or don't fish it or have never been there (myself) does that make the poaching okay? I may be misreading these comments but it sounds like some are saying "not my creek, it don't matter"? I don't think it matters where the poachers came from originally nor how they filed their paperwork, the crime of concern is the poaching. The report doesn't even mention that they might be Honduran or Chinese or Hungarian and I'm sure the fish don't care. It's surprising that the issue of being native redneck versus imported redneck is even mentioned here, fishing violations are equally harmful and equally serious regardless, and it must be just as serious on someone else's creek as it would be on "my creek". So, what will be the outcome? a small fine and revoke their fishing permits (which they weren't using, probably didn't have) and tell them in a stern voice "y'all behave now". Not much teeth in our game and fish regulations, hardly worth the Agent's efforts. trouty mouth
