Quillback Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 It was cold to start, truck said it was 43 at the launch. Temp hit 80 on the way home in the afternoon. Low 90's in the forecast the next few days, it still feels like summer. I have noticed that some of the trees are just starting to turn. Fishing for me is still tough, I know of some folks who are doing well, but they are fishing locations a bit too far away for my daytrips. I caught 10 bass, 2 were keepers. Jigs and the Carolina rig. Fish are in 5 - 20 FOW. Seeing some shad balls under the boat and some on top, but the bass aren't messing with them. I'm sure they'll figure it out and start getting after them. Devan S. Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Rumor has it there has been some top water activity on the pond to the south. Quillback 1
Dutch Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Nice brown fish there. Devan rumors abound depending on where you hang out. I heard a black spinner bait rumor a while back but have yet to tie one on.
Members Stricker9 Posted October 3, 2024 Members Posted October 3, 2024 Out of curiosity, are you going back up big M or staying out close to or on the main lake? We started our trip yesterday and caught a handful with a couple of nice smallies out close to the main lake. We pushed back in a different cove today and, outside of a couple of stragglers, it had been rough going.

I'm all over the place, I'll sometimes go as far up as close to the mouth of the Kings then fish my way back. What few I can catch have been main lake for the most part. snagged in outlet 3 and Stricker9 1 1

Then started fishing lay downs and caught 2 dinks. Called it quits at 5 hours with my tail between my legs. I’m going trout fishing here shortly. Hopefully they haven’t been talking to those bass. 😆 dpitt and Quillback 2

Members Stricker9 Posted October 6, 2024 Members Posted October 6, 2024 Fishing has been pretty slow for us. However, it looks like things are getting close to taking off. We saw several balls of shad getting run back in Baxter last evening after 5 PM. However, none were full blown feeding frenzies. They would come up and bubble for about 20 seconds and then go away. It was wild as it appeared there were about 4 different schools running different balls within our eye site. But, they wouldn’t stay up long enough for us to get to them and they kept moving as they do…. Seems like it might be getting close to taking off. snagged in outlet 3 and Quillback 2
