Government collecting information when accessing Corp of Engineers website

For years I have frequently used the following public website to find the current lake conditions like elevation and water temperatures.

Kansas City District – Stockton Lake

At the upper left hand corner of this page is a square dialogue box called...

“Daily lake Information”

 

When I click on it usually the information come up on the screen for my review BUT in the last few weeks a warning comes up. It is as follows...

What? “ USG-authorized use only”? Then why is it on a public site.

Are you kidding me? I have stopped using the site.

Unfortunately no different than what Google, Facebook, TikTok, Apple or any other online host or app provider is doing.  Just ask Edward Snowden or read what you agree to when you use any of them.

That is why I do not use any of the sites you mentioned and only use a VPN on the internet. I do not use google and get anywhere from 4 to 10 pop-up messages a day saying I need to use their service. I also seldom get a spam phone call or a spam message on my email or phone.

If you have an iPhone it is listening and collecting data.   I think there’s a company that makes a phone that is free from Google and the other criminals tracking us.

I’ve got an easier method. Let your wife keep the credit rating bottomed out and nobody will bother you. J/K Mine is the reason my credit is good!

But I don’t hide on the internet. Used to when I ventured into the dark web, but even there, common sense usually wins.

We're authorized to use it.  Wouldn't be there otherwise.  I've been all over their spaces looking for lake temps.  No longer there.

I emailed them about it and the answer was that there wasn't any public data about that at the time being.  I've also emailed them about carrying firearms on the grounds.  I guess they know where I am!
