Hey everyone,

I recently came across an article discussing various types of metal baits like spoons, spinners, and blade baits.

It emphasized their effectiveness for freshwater species such as bass, trout, and pike, especially in colder water.

I’m curious what’s been your experience using metal baits? Do you find them more productive than soft plastics or crankbaits?

Also, any specific brands or colors you swear by? I’m looking to upgrade my tackle box and would love to hear some real world input before making any purchases.

Appreciate any tips or personal favorites you can share!

Depends on what you're fishing for, where you're fishing, ect....

Mann's Little George tail spinners can cast a mile and can be lethal when targeting White bass in open water, or around tailwaters.

I got schooled on big "Dixie Jet" flutter spoons a few years ago.....and that is FUN !     Everything from big bass to giant flatheads in 10-40 feet will smoke those things.

isize appropriate in line spinners such as Worden's roster tails and Panther Martins are tackle box basics  that will produce everywhere start by  puting together a collection of these in various sizes and colors.  and expand from there by picking up the current "hot lure" at each of your outings

I fish for striper and walleye a lot, and this time of year I fish extensively with spoons, both jigging and flutter of various sizes/configurations as well as in-line and tail spinners.  They can work well and are versatile, cast a mile, and sink fast or slow depending on type.

From about now until about September, try a War Eagle jigging spoon or a Bomber Slab Spoon at the junction of the thermocline with a contour break. Also, go to flooded timber and find the largest tree. Jig right next to that tree. BTW, try all sides: it makes a difference.

Took 3 new fisherman out and taught them how to spoon on LOZ yesterday evening….this is an hour and a half’s fishing with me just working and not fishing.  They used snap raps and vibratos fished pretty much vertically, and wanted a fish fry so we kept a mess.IMG_4158.thumb.jpeg.0fa22215880f9162f67788e70a8f74f5.jpeg
