Spent NYE on the creek with my buddy @Harps. We knew going into it that the water was extremely low and the possiblility of a skunking was very real. Luckily I was able to kill the skunk with a wooly stripped through a deep pool.

Fished below town in the morning. Had lunch at Festus Jacks's in downtown Crane. The food is worth a drive to Crane. Delicious. Then Harps fished above town after lunch and I chased him around with a camera until the batteries died in the camera and the sun. We did get to witness a nice hatch and saw tons of fish rising to them but were unsuccesful in getting a take. While there was an occasional mafly that came off, most were little midges that we just didn't have anything small enough to match.

Still lots of good fish in the creek but man we need some rain. Fished 3 days this week in all different places and everywhere could use some rain.

Awesome.  That food looked great as well.  I need to fish there.   I haven't made it a priority yet.

I'm no photo expert, but I think it would be really tough to get a shot of them like that.

It was pretty difficult and I was a little depressed that this was the best I could do. But they move fast. By the time I would find a group in a good spot for a photo, and start getting the focus somewhere close, they would disperse or move into a spot where you just couldn't see them that well. If they did hold together for a sec I could get off a round of shots, but they were still moving fast and it's all manual focus at that point. It was fun to watch and try though.

What, your subject tracking autofocus couldn't handle 100 things the size of a grain of salt all moving in different directions? :D

I think you did an admirable job catching them! First pic especially.
