Quillback Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Walked this one for the first time this morning. I did not do the full loop which is a bit over 5 miles, but instead walked to the top of the ridge and back down again. Got some decent cardio on the way up, and beat my knees and hips on the way down. Getting old sucks as you have all heard before. 😀 Trail is in pretty good shape, there's a portion at the beginning that goes straight uphill and gets water erosion from rain which washes away the dirt and leaves you with fist size rocks to watch your step around. Trees, trees, and more trees, so hard to find a lookout point to get a photo of the scenery. Very quiet up there once you get over the first little ridge that blocks out the traffic noise. A few birds tweeting, a woodpecker drumming here and there and that's about it. BilletHead, Terrierman, WestCentralFisher and 6 others 9
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I plan to hike more this spring/summer. Its funny, you live in Arkansas, and came to hike in Missouri, I plan the opposite. snagged in outlet 3, Quillback, dpitt and 1 other 4 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. If there were no trees, I could hit a golf ball with a driver and land it in MO. But for sure there are some great trails in AR too. Come on down! dpitt, snagged in outlet 3, BilletHead and 1 other 4
BilletHead Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Fun report Jeff. At least you had somewhat of a wind break with some trees even though they are bare. Windy and cold here just after noon. Pat talked me into walking with her on a three miler of easy walking but most of it was in the open. My face got cold. She runs hot and never complains. She has been known to walk in the teens on windless days. dpitt, Daryk Campbell Sr and Quillback 3 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" ness Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I've only done the first part of the trail. Cool views down into the valley and spring. Quillback and Daryk Campbell Sr 2 John
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Is it the trail just above the spring? If so, ive only done the first part as well. Beautiful view. Roaring River is the first place I ever got the experience where you could see the fish you were targeting. We camped there on my 30th birthday. The remnants of Hurricane Ike came through, we got evacuated to higher ground. It was definitely an experience. One of my favorite spots ever. My luck there has been less than stellar, but something keeps calling me back. I was camping there when I fell off @dblades' boat into Table Rock at One Bass tournament as well. There are several trails in the park. The Fire Tower trail head is on the north side of road F, there is nowhere on that trail where you can see the river, you can see the valley where the river is, but not the water itself. There's a trail that parallels part of the river, and I believe there is another one that starts by the spring and goes up a big hill. I want to walk that one by the spring, sounds like some good views from it plus it would be a good uphill work out. I'm back into the diet and exercise thing, gotta lose some weight. snagged in outlet 3 and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
