Kim City - Mar 16th - Swimbait

I fished from 7:30 to 10:30 in Kim City area and had decent luck with a underspin and plain swimbait. I fished the mouth of a spawning cove with my boat setting in 45' and casting to 25' and slow rolling over trees. I had 10 fish with 8 keepers, 3 LM and 5 Ks. One LM was 5.11 using a 2.8 inch plain swimbait. Another LM was 5.5 using a 3.8 inch plain swimbait. This time of year, the plain swimbait can out perform an underspin. I caught a few keepers on the underspin and the rest on a plain swimbait. The area I fished had very little bait compared to when I fished it 10 days ago. Ten days ago it had too much bait in the area. The WT was 43.5 to 46. Some shad are still dying, but it seems to be minor. I could not move around much due to the amount of boats in the BFL tournament. For me, the main feeding time was over at 9AM. I would estimate my best 5 weighed 18.5 Lbs.

He would've won the bfl. I weighed 11 pounds on a grub. Never had a bite after 10 am

Saw the standings but didn't see a write up about the BFL. I'm guessing an A rig won it?

I guess the winner had 17.10.  Said he caught them on a wart at Baxter and culled two with his two biggest on A-rig.

185 total boats with 43 limits and 83 others that caught two or less fish.  Said it was the lowest total tournament weight ever in a BLF on the Rock.  Extremely hard post front conditions with most all fish caught in the first 3 hrs.of the day.

17 and change won bfl, most guys threw a rigs, I never got a bite, my boater had the right setup with his arig, wouldn't even touch mine, his last flurry of fish came around 1030-11am, after that, hauled water for 4hrs, and then caught a random kicker around 330. after that no more bites

I started in the back of a creek , first fish 5.1 lbs. second fish was a 3.5. All on the jerkbait . Then didn’t get another bite for 6 hrs lol

Supports what I've always heard and believed … that some of the biggest fish move up and spawn first. Not that any are spawning now in this cold water, but those were up cruising.

Man they were big ones .weird thing is those fish had been there for a solid month now. And bit better when it was cloudy and 35 for a high. Sometimes it just doesn’t make sense.

Nope, when all is said and done, they are bass and they do crazy things sometimes. I guess if they were too predictable, folks would've wiped them out years ago. And they wouldn't be near as challenging to chase around.

SOLUNAR TABLES/FORECAST have the early/mid morning as the major bite time past few days for table rock, may be linked with the early catches , who knows..

i always check the times before i go . sometimes it's pretty accurate, and other times the bass don't even  bother to  look at the clock ha ha.

equinox and super full moon coming up soon!  astronomical doubleheader!

my top 3 biggest largemouth were all caught  around a full moon . i'm sold on it.
