  1. Hey Drew, My wife bought me a Coosa for my birthday. I'll be working on my balance so that I can safely stand up in it. . At the very least, that would be helpful when scanning a marsh pond for the Red menace. I've had two weeks this year that come close to your normal adventures, but I do live closer to my fish so I don't have to druive as much. Still trying to do that trip to Venice or GI. I need to get back down there again.
  2. You'd be shocked. We caught 4 walleye in one day. I caught White Bass and saw crappie. I caught LMB within sight of the dam and caught Yellow Perch way down river that must have gone over the dam. I saw BIG catfish and gar in the Norfork after that dam had floodgates opened.
  3. I will not at all be surprized if they have to open the flood gates on Bull Shoals this year. Woot Woot, more walleye in the White.
  4. Lol! Lipstick.
  5. Not with those crappy stock hooks.Split ring in nose and split rings on hooks. #2 Gammy Round Bends please.
  6. The first (and only) rattlesnake in the wild I have ever seen was a nice sized Pygmy Ratllesnake that came crawling thru while I was on the bluff lot. I kept working and he kept crawling. I had not seen him before or since. I appreciate you more and more Rick.
  7. Great Big Old Fish. I would have been happy with a Good Photo, but to each his own. darn thing should have died from embarrassment for being fooled by Power Bait.

    White River 7/6/15

I've got a couple of funny Gulley stories. Remind me next time we are at an OA thing and I'll tell you.
  9. to call them loud doesn't do them justice. You'll be needing hearing aids and a class in sign language before long if you start to operate one. Oh heck no. Screw that. I have ZERO interest in fishing from one or anywhere around one. Yuk.
  10. Lol, Nah Man, I haven't fished the Beaver tail water in a decade of more. I live 10 minutes away from multriple access points of the White and Norfork rivers. I have very easy access to lots and lots of trout water. Beaver is > 2 hours away from me.

Two things 1) You can use a boat or kayak to access areas to wade. I really wonder why more people don't do this and 2) the developing grass beds are going to be another option for people looking to catch fish. So far I have not caught anything larger than say 17 inches off of a grass bed and most are going to be under 14 inches, but the trout and warm water fish are definitely making a home there.
  12. If the trout know whats good for them they will take a right when they hit TR and swim towards Beaver as hard as they can.
  13. That was my next guess
  14. He was keeping up with the number of fish he had caught out of it.
  15. There is hope that the rivers will develop. The places that have great hatches have been as they are now for very long periods of time. Below Beaver, Taney, below Norfork, and below Bull have only been around for a handful of decades. Norfork and the White below Bull Shoals have Caddis Hatches, Sulpher mayfly, and Hex hatches. Hoppers work May thru October.
  16. Better you than Me QB. Wake Boats are an abomination. Those things make jet skis seem like a blessing.
  17. I'm really looking forward to September and beyond.
  18. As amazing as it is, sincerely offered assistance is often met with hostile resistance. I try to be helpful when I can, but having been chewed out mulitple times, I wil admit to watching a little longer trying to judge if I will be allowed to help PRIOR to offering. Tempers were flaring at the take out at Hasty on the Buffalo River 7-4-15. I kept an ee on it as I loaded my stuff up a short distance away. It never got to blows so I stayed out of it. Good Times.

Mac, there was never a fee to wade in since I've been down there. There is a small fee to be taxied down river and returned at a set time, but be aware that very much water above minimum flow is going to make things tough, and minimum flow ain't really a picnic. A kayak or boat at minimum flow opens up a world of options though.
  20. Next up would be establishing access in Marion County and removing the barbed wire stretched across the creek.
  21. I got to make a short trip with my son who is a town for a few days. Fished Rim Shoals from 10 am until 1 Pm. We caught about 40. They were running half the water projected at about 2000 CFS. A south wind of near 10 mph was annoying. And the water had some stain from recent rain. Fish bit well starting with the first cast. We made the run down to the mouth of Crooked Creek, but it was mocha latte. Nothing big. Largest rainbow was 16 inches. We lost a couple of Browns and a decent Cuttie. We lost a bunch of fish for some reason. Oh well. Nice day on the river. We saw a few other boats, but zero stress and zero conflict.
  22. Top Notch boat. Why Not save your extras for the new boat? Not the Sea Dek of course.
  23. As far as I know, this boat is still for sale. I was commenting on the quality of a Coosa hoping someone on here wil buy that boat. The only time I times I am ever in my canoe, the poor thing is overloaded with weight above the gunnels. No room to walk and a bad time to be trying it. Yesterday, the getting up and down went well, but the boat seemed a little loosey goosey as I was standing there. I can't imagine my exaggerated hooksets beinga good thing while standing in the Coosa.
  24. Yo G, My wife bought me one from OMTC for my birthday. I would have held off longer, but so it goes. I appreciate the gift and I have already enjoyed it. There is no one perfect boat or fishing rod or automobile or firearm. I love how comfortable and dry the seat is on the Coosa and I like the extra elevation, but it most definitely is a slower boat than my Tarpon and does not track as well. The lack of tracking also means you can swing that nose around in a hurry when you REALLY need to do so. The higher seat also means less stabilty. I stood up in mine yeasterday and while I managed to do so without falling in, I'm not sure how practical that's going to be for fishing. My elderly inner ear is likely gonna call BS on that. Its going to take a while for me to work out how I want to store everything for easy access though.

    Reward Offered

No doubt it gets looks. Just way too frustrating for me to use. I really think the bait design is causing the fish to knock it away from them as they strike. We'd have to supper slow mo about a 1000 strikes and then drill down on the 700 strikes that did not result in a hook up to see if there was a common cause. NOW before the flaming arrows head my way, just kidding about the numbers. i have the feeling that the majority of the strikes are misses, but I may be dead wrong.
