  1. You can float starting in March (some years) thru November (most years). Lots less young, drunk, and stupids on the water in the off season. Just sayin
  2. They were in the mid lake area last weekend, but who knows.
  3. The trick is to get your mileage down to 5000 and your fish numbers above 5000. This is doable once I'm retired. 1000 off the bank is totally doable. 10 fish a trip on average and make 100 trips (many of them can be short trips). You won't always be bank bound. You could easily acquire a canoe or smallish boat. It would open up whole new worlds of fish to you. BUT right now you are focused on new life species and not numbers. I want BOTH.
  4. Spend the extra $150 and get the Pescador at Academy. It is a true rotomolded boat with a proven hull. Stored properly and treated half decently that boat will last 10 years or more (I've got a version of that boat that's 13 years old). Only $15 bucks extra a year to have a sure thing instead of a $400 roll of the dice.
  5. I was completely ignorant of this. Thank You. It would not likely be something that ever cam into play with me, but Thanks.
  6. I have friends that dive. I'm told the thermocline is about 27 foot at BSL.
  7. No one is catching bass from 60 plus on the Red and people Probably shouldn't be doing so from the Rock. I think you underestimate the barotrauma that you are putting those fish thru. I choose not to fish deeper than 35 FOW. Could I, Yes. Would I get better at it with practice?, of course. I won't do it because I think its bad for the fish. You choose to do it because you guide and that's where the catchable fish are. I clearly understand that the Red and the Rock are day and night different. That's why I posted the extreme temperature difference. Its crazy that you can still catch them shallow on the Red when water temps are close to 100.You fish Table Rock more most months than I have in my life. You are an expert on Table Rock. Have at it.
  8. I fished the Red River south of Shreveport when my surface temp gauge would go blank because the temp was reading over 100. You could still catch fish in < 3 foot of water. Different habitat I suppose.
  9. Dilliard's Ferry is still your best option. I got the impression they weren't going to reestablish a take out at BUffalo Point, but that might be completely off base.
  10. Winning a Rob Scuderi puck on the Jersey shore just seems so random to me. As a fellow Pens fan, I appreciate it, but its odd. The fish are super cool ; 20 hours driving really sucks. I had another epiphany in the shower this morning, I'd love to catch more fish in a year than the number of miles I put on my vehicle. I probably won't ever be able to pull it off unless I live so long that they won't let me drive anymore BUT I can still get someone to take me fishing every so often.
  11. Y My wife and I own 5 kayaks. We have 2 x Tarpon 120, 1 x Tarpon 100, a Jackson Coosa, and a Jackson Cuda. A Perception Pescador 120 at $550 dollars new is your best option. Just sayin.
  12. The Perception Pescador is from the mold of a classic Wilderness System Tarpon. Available from a bunch of retailers, but I know that Academy carries them. Great boat at a great price. < $600 if I remember correctly. If you are a little larger and if you want to fly fish from your boat, I STRONGLY recommend you get the 120. A little more money and little more weight, but it will fish / float better and you can store flyrods fully rigged out inside the boat and they will be bombproof. Good Luck and Welcome to the dark side.
  13. Thank You for all the hard work behind the scenes. OA and OAF really have helped me be a more successful angler and helped me meet some awesome people. I freely acknowledge this and appreciate it. Enjoy your time away. I'll behave myself while you're gone.
  14. Nah Man 34 is where it's at, 38 max. Beyond that is cartoonish.

    Rim Shoals

I think that's doable, but worst case scenario, you walk the boat back thru.
  16. No Sir. We did not. I am hopeful they will expend their population though. I have caught a few BIG Red Ear on Norfork though.
  17. Well then, I might have to give the set of studded rubber soles that came with the boots a shot when I do a full wade. I'm concerned about the effect of studs getting in and out of trout boat or canoe though. I'm supposed to float next Friday on North Fork of the White River. I'll give the studded set a shot at keeping me upright.
  18. While I still think it is pointless and likely to lead to me falling on slick rocks, I have purchased non-felt soled wading boots to be fully legal in Missouri Trout waters. I went with a Korkers boot that was being phased out, but I would bet are still available to a Master Internet Shopper (Griz for example). I busted those bad boys out on a little Missouri adventure last week. No pics so it didn't really happen, but I was very impressed with my first two full days in the boots. The boots have their Boa lacing system. A stainless steel cable that is permanantly laced and has a knob you twist to tighten. You pop the knob outward to quick release. Very quick on and off and you really can get a snug fit. Minimal rocks in my footwear was a welcome change. these boots also have their replaceable sole system. Felt soles were available. I still have other felt boots that I will use so I did not buy the felt sole. I have some crappy rubber sole that is more grippy that lugs, but not felt. we will see how long they hold up, but I love them right now.
  19. Thanks Man! I had a big time as well. Fish 24/7 is going to forget more about Bull Shoals than I'm ever going to know. We had some nice bass and a pile of various panfish. Thanks for the hook up on the Berkley oney Worms and the tip on drop shotting for panfish. It works too well. I finished up with 103. I would love to have stayed all day, but I had yard work that HAD to be done. I appreciated that Fish 24/7 was right on time and had everything he needed for trip in a very organized fashion. I usually bring way too much and as a result its a jumbled mess. I did go back early Sunday morning solo on the lower lake. I had a few more bass early and than a pile of panfish late. I quit about noon again. All the bass barfed up big threadfin shad. I think that the bass are feeding heavily on shad and that is slowing my bite. Regardless, my usual ways of catching fish that worked the last several years are NOT working this year.
  20. I wonder how many ppl claim to have "won" their Yeti. Not saying you didn't but I bet that's a common cover story. And you don't dare leave it in the back of your truck either
  21. You only have yourself to blame.

    I'm too literal sometimes.
  24. ZERO INTEREST.
  25. Just to totally train wreck this thread, I wonder how much it costs to actually produce a yeti cooler? Nice coolers, but good grief do they cost too much.
