Anyone ever fished either one of these lakes and specifically caught/targeted Bullhead?
-
I fish Beaver TW Saturday and there was a pretty significant number of Kayakers there. Not huge water(4k cfs) but a ton more obstacles in BV TW that pose problems for kayaks than Taney.

Is there a certain level of flow most boat rentals will not rent at for motorized boats?
-
I really think the entire press release is confusing.....it talks about minimum flow which only pertains to BS dumping into the white right? I've never really seen 950cfs from Beaver dam, 1900 cfs isn't even 1 generator at Beaver. It discusses the doubling of flow from 950cfs to 1900cfs which is something but really isn't considering BS has been releasing 5 to 10X that much over the last couple months and is still high. Then they throw in the catch that TRL has to be below 917 which means its still "more important" and the 3 lake system has to be below 50% full for the doubling of the releases. Again talking purely from the standpoint of mitigating releases at Beaver I don't see it, at least from the press release. The only catch I can see is that previously I think BS and TRL had to be less than 2ft above normal before Beaver could dump. Now I guess they can do it if TRL is normal and BS is flooded but the 3 lake system isn't 50%.

Best I can tell there really isn't much change.

Nice. The state shuffling is the slightly concerning part to me. It becomes much clearer I feel like the more you check off but right now there is too many options to narrow things down. I don't feel like I need to catch a Rio cutt in a specific stream in NM but feel like I should just in case I need it later on.

Wanting to complete the Western Native Trout Challenge sometime in next 10 years...hoping to pack up the state specific slams along the way. Hopefully flying into NM and knocking out rainbow, brown, rio cutt, and brook quickly....then drive across state to Gila territory...then off to apache and finish with as many of the Arizona challenge as I can.

Good take......another thing to remember is the world Garmin was and still is the key player. Software is/was at the heart of what they did and do. GPS, Smart watch, ect. They did very little mechanical duty "things" and troubleshooting/fixes could happen very simply by often a software flash on legacy products they are familiar with. Sounds like if they are replacing boards then most issues are hardware related. When you put electronics/hardware on the front of a boat exposed in a wet environment the ball game changes from a smart watch or automotive/handheld GPS. Is it right? Probably not but I could see why their having growing pains and sounds like their doing there best to make it right on the back end with service.

I'm planning western natives next year. Hoping to check off NM slam and trying to get both AZ challenges. Grayling is included for Arizona as an option....we will see.

Taneycomo Birthday Trip 8/16-8/23
Devan S. replied to Ryan Miloshewski's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Exciting....Me and a buddy have a trip scheduled with DD at the end of September in the dark....now you've got me wanting a chuck trip too. -
I think once you find them(which people here can make recommendations) you specifically know enough of what to ask to know if their style will fit what you want to a high degree. The concern I would have would be booking direct through a resort or marina. You never know how much knowledge the person answering the phone has. You don't know if your plans get conveyed or you matched up to a good fit of guide. I had it happen once on the White booking resort/marina. Made it very clear we were CnR and after quality not quantity. I explicitly said we were looking for large fish and were okay with only catching 1 or 2 fish all day. Yet when we met the guide he was prepared for fishing for stockers. Luckily he was able to pivot gear to stuff he had in his truck but the message clearly didn't get conveyed.

Going by this he posted: and the link to KY3 shows the business is the The Barn House, owned by Travis Zarechi. His facebook shows his profile picture was changed May 20 with many condolences on it. Timing doesn't line up thought with oneshots dissapearance.

See here: and here: That Middle section is really a gem.......but fish can be caught in the upper and lower sections.

I don't know....my point was ever media outlet picked up on the girl raising her fist or turning her back "protesting" but the alternate was basically ignored. To me its just a media driven frenzy.

Didn't the women's basketball team decide as a team to not protest at the Olympics even though they do it all year in the WNBA? Guess you don't see that plastered all over the news.....not nearly as divisive I guess.

Petition for single point hooks in trophy section
Devan S. replied to Smallie Seeker's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
If your going to restrict the treble hook theory then we should make the entire area off limits. The people pushing this regulation are literally the same people playing fish to complete exhaustion on 5x or smaller tippet. If there is anything that is going to kill a fish dead its a 10 minute plus fight on a lightweight fly rod on big water with subpar conditions. -
Happens pretty often to me....not pitbulls but neighbors mutt dogs. Excuse is always they have a little working cattle dog in them and they ain't harming anything. 1st mistake you can make is saying anything to the owner or calling the cops....just puts a target on you. I just keep quiet....catch the dogs in the act.....video...then solve the problem. Load up the dog and give it a ride several miles away. Pitbulls I don't deal with thankfully but anytime someone says "their dog is trained" its bologna. I haven't seen a real trained dogs in years.

For Wild’s Sake: The Rare Trout Chronicles | Episode 2

The fly rod deal kind of blew my mind. Looks like they were basically fishing straight vertical of course that could have just been the way it was portrayed. -

Awesome film work and such a cool fish. Thanks for sharing. -
Didn't RR get rid of their pool too?

I'm sure the Taney fish are spill overs from TR, think about all the times the gates have been open the last 5 years. Now its like 920+ and you get spillway. Happening much more often than historically(think about all the smallies, whites, shad, ect) TR always has had a sizeable population. Beaver has a good population too but the striper really fills the "other" fish niche over there. I think the bulk of increase can be attributed to social media. Guides have a real benefit to post on facebook. Historically the Walleye thing has been fairly secretive. You may tell people you caught them but your not gonna tell where.....even if they know where you fish. As long as I have been alive there have been guides up the white on TR fishing for walleye. These guides operated by word of mouth and weren't blasting on social media and still aren't. Now with the slide of my thumb I can see guides posting to multiple facebook groups with pictures of baits and locations clearly in their photos. The unfortunate part of all this is when people are paying 2-400 bucks for a trip they are keeping every fish over 18". Walleye just don't have the stigma of CnR that Bass do.

This is pretty neat. Where does a raindrop go?
Devan S. replied to BilletHead's topic in Conservation Issues
Pretty cool....I tried and tried and tried to confuse it by dropping on 2 ocean pass in Wyoming. Best I can tell it just goes ahead and jumps it one direction or the other.
