  1. How do I find these rules so I won't be in violation when I respond to someone's post. Looked and can't find them, please help me.
  2. I have never been called myself, but I don't usually answer a call that is not on my list of people I know. If they leave me as message I will listen and call back if it is something or someone I want to talk to. I have never been call about what TV shows I watch either but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen because I do know someone who has been called often about what shows they watch. As for who does polling here are just a few, the most famous is Gallup, then there is Fox News, USA Today, Suffolk University, all the National News Stations just to name a few. They usually contact between 1000 and 50,000 people. Fox usually quotes Gallup, look here at what they said about Trump https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-exits-white-house-on-low-note-polls They also have many polls and news stories about the drop in approval ratings and you can find many Fox news stories when Biden's approval rating was 55 % and stood by those rating even when talking to a Trump.
  3. Don't Really care for Biden but don't care for any politician. But one of the commits is really off. The one Biden getting 80 million votes and having the lowest approval rating of any President ever. George H W Bush had a approval rating of 27.5 in his last year of office, Jimmy Carter had a approval rating of 28.3 in his third year, Harry Truman had a 33 approval in his second year, Ronald Reagan had a 35.3 approval rating after 2 years, Lyndon Johnson had a approval rating of 38.3 at the end of his term, Barack Obama had a approval rating of 42.5 in the middle of his second year, Donald Trump never had a 50% approval rating during his whole 4 years in office with a low of 39%. Joe Biden Stated with 55% and has gone down to 43.5 % approval rating and he got 81.2 million votes. Do some research before you just repost something that isn't true, too many fools out there believe anything if it is on the right.

    What's Cooking?

I see you are still drinking that Barrel Aged Quad. It is my favorite and glad my local spot see fit to always have it for me. Just tried a new limited release from New Belgium, Honey Orange Tripel. It only has a light taste of honey and orange so they don't overpower the Belgian-ale flavor. I like it.
  5. Season hasn't started here in Oklahoma yet, Nov. 13th is opening day of the first half. A few years ago I got to hunt along the Navigation Channel in NE OK on some soybean fields. It was always hard to hunt because the fields were so big and very little cover. One year when there had been lots of rain the the farmer couldn't harvest the beans we had several days where several thousand mallards would circle in and land. The duck tornado is how I discovered this field. I saw the bird from a couple miles away and thought is was a large flock of black bird circling just up the road, but the closer I got the bigger the bird were. That is when I realized they were ducks. It took several days to contact the farmer and get permission to hunt. He was surprise I was asking to duck hunt because everyone else ask to deer hunt. The best way we found to hunt these large fields was to lay flat on the ground and hope the came in on you. Had several days when we would limit out on the first flight that came in. Several time I would down 5 birds on the three shots on the first group. Then we would just lay there and watch them come in and sometime they would feed right over to us and then flush when we moved and several times they would crap all over us. Only had one year like that and still hunt the field but have never have the number of bird again. But we still talk about it every year.
  6. Wrench I would rather be me, Phil or many other on here that believe in GOD and Jesus Christ and in the end be totally wrong, than you and in the end be wrong. I have read through the bible many time and have never seen where it says GOD created brain cancer. I do believe he can heal anyone of anything, at his choice, and there are many people who have been told there is no hope and some how they are cured and the doctors don't have an answer. But each person get to decide what they choose to believe and should not condemn or belittle others for their faith or lack of it.
  7. I was having the same problem with not being able to focus on the small things the last couple of years. Last year during my annual eye exam I complained to the doc about it and he told me that was as sharp as he could correct my vision because I had been getting cataracts over the last couple of years. Went and had the cataract surgery and Lasik at the same time. I have had no problems and vision is better than 20-20 now. Only thing is some time the light will make the lens show in my eye and have been ask " What is wrong with your eyes". No complaints. Just do your research on what doctor does it for you.
  8. my oldest son was born with only a right hand, left arm stops about 2 inches below the elbow. There is not much he can't do. Some things I was able to help him with but others not so. I couldn't figure out how to teach him to tie his shoes until I walked into a store to buy some new running shoes and the guy who helped me only had a left hand and I made arrangement to get him to teach my son how to tie his shoes. In less than 5 minutes he sit him down and showed him how it was done and I never had to tie his shoes again. In high school he once won a contest to see who could put a pillow case on a pillow the fastest. My son deer hunts and guts his own deer and has kids of his own and has changed lots of diapers. Some things take longer or need special instruction, but he gets it done. I believe with some trial and error and maybe some instruction by someone with experience doing things one handed you will also get it done.

    Whatchya Drinking?

found a new bourbon the other day and like it a lot. Neat with some ice or 50/50 with sprite, Uncle Nearest. Story has it that a former slave taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey. And they make a couple different ones. I got the 1884 small batch.
  11. I used to frog gig a lot in my younger days. Broke a few dates when the guys called to go. Bull Frogs are the toughest animal I have ever seen. You could stab them in the back with a four prong gig and then hit them in the head with a claw hammer and cut the legs off and they would still try to crawl off with their front legs with their guts hanging out. Brings back lots of good memories. I think the first time I did anything with my wife was take a group out frog gigging and we are still married after 42 years.
  12. I thought I remembered him saying his arms did work but he still had use of his hands a couple of weeks ago. I looked over older post and saw he posted on July 15th about his arms and about his dog going to the vet. Also on July 17th about having to use a electric cart at Walmart. Also on July 17th he said something about a fast trip to Forsyth. He had also talked about his mother-in-law catching covid and passing in June. Hope he is OK. Have always read his post even though I don't always agree with what he says.
  13. Was driving home from a trip to the Buffalo River and found and kayak seat on the side of the road. It was in the north bound lane of Hwy 65 just north of Harrison, AR on Friday 6/18 around noon. It is still in good shape. If you can tell me what it fits and what word is written on the bottom and the back I will do my best to get it to you. If it is not claimed I plan on keeping it because I have a kayak it will fit.
  14. The picture I posted of Oak Creek is of a place my wife calls the" big rock." Her grandparents had a cabin along the creek here from the early 50's to the 70's. Parts of the foundation can still be seen and a little bit of a outer wall that went to a basement bunk room. Her grand father was a sheet metal worker and built a backpack tank to carry trout down to this area. He would wait by the road for the trout truck and they would give him about 30 fish and he would carry them down to the creek for release and make all the grandkids wait 30 minutes before they could start fishing. She has lots of great memories from there and last time we were there she just sit for and hour and told me stories of all the adventures they had, about Walking from the cabin to Indian Gardens store to get ice cream or skate at a roller rink that was next to the store, now a Yuppie cafe, hiking on the many trails in the area or just swimming in the creek. There used to be a place called Don Hoel's, the only place to get a fishing license in the area. Great little store but poor ole Don wasn't so lucky. Seem a boulder fell off the side of a cliff and smashed his car will he was driving one day. Some of her family still own's land in the area just up stream a few miles behind the old Junipine Resort. Used to go to Slide Rock way before it was a state park and it was free but the only place to park was any wide spot on the road. Never stayed at the old cabin but have heard a lot about it. Didn't think I was going to get her to leave that last time we were there as you can see from this pic, she just wanted to stay and remember all her younger days. Hope we all have a place that we can reminisce about simpler times in our lives.
  15. This one is on the Piedra River above Pagosa Springs after a 3 mile hike. The wife caught her first cutthroat fishing dry flies for the first time. It was a great day. The second one was on Oak Creek above Sedona, AZ from a couple of years ago, on the river I first trout fished 40 years ago
  16. The first one is an unknown lake in Jasper National Park. Didn't fish it and don't know if it has any. Took a short kayak trip around the lake for a couple hours. The Second one is North Fork Reservoir close to Monarch, Co. at about 11500 feet and we hiked up to Islands Lake and caught fish in both of them.
  17. I will be watching the river levels and the weather forecast. A month ago we were talking about this week or in a couple of weeks. After all the recent rains we started looking at the 22-24. Even if we are able to go I will make sure we pick a safe place with an escape route if the river comes up. I was in Ponca and then near Norfork on the White the last week of April and watched the white rise 13 feet in 24 hours. All because of the Buffalo flowing over 50,000 CFS. Wouldn't want to be on the river when that happens. I have floated after a big flood and have seen trash hanging 30 feet up in the trees.
  18. Thanks for that. I had only looked at the current picture they have up.
  19. Going to take a 3 day 2 night trip between Gilbert and Dillards June 22-24, with the wife, and plan on camping along the river. I have floated this section but never camped along the river. Plan on doing 5-6 miles the first day, not starting till noon, 10 or so the next and finishing on the third day. We plan on doing some fishing and just taking it easy so don't plan on doing a lot of miles each day. Looking for some advice for good places to camp. Looking on Google maps and don't see many nice gravel bars, but the view shows the river really high and muddy. I have Kenneth Smith's book, Buffalo river hand book and it have very detailed mile markers of the bluffs and creeks along the river but not gravel bars. I know they can change over time but wonder if I can get some advice on good safe places to camp.
  20. Small town in southeast OK with lots of hills and pine trees. Cedar Lake, small lake only about 80 acres, where the last couple of state record large mouth bass have been caught. Present record stands at 14 lbs 13 oz. I think no motors allowed on the lake.
  21. Where I am at in Oklahoma there has not been much rain and for me the picking has been really slow, until yesterday. Had been out several times and the first two trips found zero, then found 13, the next day 8 and then found 5 more in the afternoon. They were great, but just not enough. Battered and fry them in a little oil and a stick of butter until golden brown. Mix ranch dressing and some Ring Of Fire hot sauce as a dipping sauce. Didn't go out for another week because of there being no rain. Had the day off yesterday and free time so I went out and found 65, mostly good size. Most of them were singles just randomly found in the woods. Only a couple times did I find more the one in the same area. We got about a 1/2 of rain last night so I will be looking at going out again in a couple days.
  22. Sent a set of wader to Simms to get repaired and they let me know that they couldn't repair them and that they didn't make that model anymore. I could upgrade for a little more, so that is what I did. It took about a week to get the new ones in. Tried them out the next day and they worked great. About a week later I got another box from Simms and it was another pair of the same waders. Well I called Simms to make sure I wasn't being charged for the second pair. They saw their mistake and said I was not charged for the second pair and would I please send them back, they would send me a free shipping label. Being honest I said I would. Oh and by the way they said for being so good and honest that they would give me 10% off my next order. They waders were $500 and they were going to give me 10% off. I really thought about keeping them but I didn't and sent them back.

    Whatchya Drinking?

Found another new, to me anyway, that I Really like. Coop DNR. A Belgian style ale by Coop Ale Works in Oklahoma City. And yes that is a picture of a toe tag on the can. Comes in a 4 pack, IBU 30, ALC 10.0 % and SRM 22. I like Belgian Ale and really like this one.
  24. Guess I should have waited 4-5 years. Just found it for $14. http://www.fish-united.com/products/Eagle-Claw-Granger-GRX-Salmon-{47}-Steelhead-Spinning-Rod.html Just a different color. Going to use it a few more time before fishing with it next week. I do understand about shortening up the cast to get timing and correct casting position to get the best distance and accuracy. Tried placing the spool of line into a cup of hot water to change the memory from the spool to the spool on the reel.
  25. Planned on just casting it out and jigging it back to the boat. Took it out today and tried casting it on the pond behind the house throwing a 1/8 oz jig. The extra two and half feet of rod and the 2 pound test line was really different than throwing a 6 1/2 medium action rod for bass. I was all over the place on distance and direction at first. Took about a dozen cast to get some type of timing down, but still had several bad cast. I also had a few what I call wind knots in the middle of the line about 20 yard out and well behind the jig. Also had one bird's nest in the line at about the same distance. Will throw it a few more time to see if I get any better. Don't have any light action spinning rods that are shorter, may look for one if I can't make this thing work.
