  1. I have yet to catch a fish on the darned thing. I hopped it around in Spanish Lake, once, and Crane Lake during Memorial Day weekend in my canoe. I will try it on Mark Twain this fall with my buddy Bob if I can find the time to get the boat out of storage.
  2. I like it. The "hook" side can come in handy. I am not sure what the "serrated" side is for. I built a kayak paddle with the wood left over from my cedar stripper and it is heavy.
  3. I don't carry. Now I live up here where most of you would refuse to even drive through but I believe that firearm has an equal chance of keeping me from getting killed or getting me shot when I would not have gotten shot if I didn't pull it out. But if any one breaks in my house there will be a terrible mess to clean up.
  4. The team with the second best record in baseball is 4-1/2 games behind us and we have four games coming up with them starting tomorrow.
  5. I think I would still be running...right tired...but still running.
  6. Al, I like that idea of a ping pong paddle or something similar.
  7. With all due respects to Brewer and Shipley I do prefer this version of that "modern day spiritual." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye3ecDYxOkg
  8. That is what I do...every time I fish.
  9. I believe the current chargers, due to the advanced electronics, are designed to be plugged in all of the time. They go into maintenance mode that the manufacture's claim extends the life of a battery.
  10. That's nothin'....now if he were to come up with full beer cans that is different.
  11. It appears to me the single most important factor was the water temperature. Someone once posted here that 70 something children die in this country each year choking on hot dogs. I know 250,000 people die of influenza each year. I imagine the number of people slipping in the shower and dying would surprise us. This is a country of over 300,000,000 million people and 8,000,000,000 people on the planet – there will be bad stuff happening every day and we will hear it because of the efficiency of the news media. But we must consider each day a gift and not live in fear. This is no consolation for this young girl’s family. For them I am truly grieved.
  12. I just read, today, that Geoffrey Lewis passed away. He was Clint Eastwood's co-star in a lot of movies. "Every Which Way But Loose" was one of them. I need to ammend my list and put that movie in it. "Right turn Clyde"
  13. That looks like quite the experience but the fist thing I thought of, when seeing the first picture, was ALLIGATORS.
  14. Todd Stiles (Route 66) Captain Picard (Star Trek Next Generation) Walter Bishop (Fringe) Briscoe County Jr. (Briscoe County Jr.) Lilith (Cheers)
  15. Hopefully it is just a spasm. For me a spasm feels just like a serious back injury but goes away in days. I used to lift in powerlifting tournaments (I wasn't any good) and had surgery in '96. I was fine up until a few years ago. It failed where it was operated on. I had three days of pain and then numbness down the leg. I will take the numbness and slight weakness over the pain. I do limit what I will pick up to my own bodyweight.
  16. Jerry, I think some of these high-falootin Table Rock and LOZ dudes are making fun of Clearwater.
  17. Goulash....I forgot this was about the goulash.
  18. Ya know, I get on Netflix and spend a half hour trying to pick out a movie. You guys are going to make this a lot easier.
  19. Field Of Dreams Once Upon A Time In The West... Doctor Strangelove From Hell To Eternity Paint Your Wagon And to separate the comedies we have the holy trinity: Caddyshack Blazing Saddles Animal House
  20. Except for that scene where all of the LST's are lined up on the beach. I was looking for 241 (the ship my father served on). It was not there. I recorded and resarched all of the numbers and none of them ever served in the Pacific Theatre. In fact one of them never even made it to Europe -- it was sunk on the way. It was all CGI.
  21. I found a bottle of Penzy's Ozark Seasoning in Candy's spice rack. I have been using it on the steaks from that old deer and cooking fast in a hot iron skillet in a bit of lard. I recommend it.
  22. Wieners (hot dogs, franks....) are another example of "you get what you pay for." Good wieners from a butcher shop are excellent.
  23. I just looked at the site: http://www.stealth1charging.com/Conclusion.html They do, in fact, claim the outboard can charge the trolling motor battery with this device. Maybe they can adjust the resistance to keep the load at what the outboard charging system is designed for, but it is a risk. Part of the risk is sending too much current to the trolling motor battery making the cranking battery insufficiently charged to turn over the outboard. I agree with Wrench: the outboard charging is designed to charge only the cranking motor battery.
  24. Food for ticks and mosquitoes.
