  1. We could use some snow, good slow melting into the ground snow and some cooler temps. I was out checking today and peach trees are befinning to bud, lilacs are budding up, its February for Petes sake.
  2. Reckon it smoked a little?

    What's Cooking?

Just pulled a pork shoulder out of the electric smoker, about 14 hours low and slow. No foil this time, no picture as I was in a hurry and didn't think about it. Much darker and drier. Chunked up in a crock pot to keep warm for a church dinner. I will say it looks very very tasty. However with the zombie virus I have I still cannot even smell the smoke or meat and taste is non existent. Will have to wait and see what others say before I pronounce it good.
  4. Pretty obvious that thing belongs on the Meremec instead!

Well just what kind of a grampa do you think I am? You cant raise a redneck grandson like that, you have to use bourbon.

    What's Cooking?

Grandson duty this morning resulted in pancake, with cinnamon and vanilla powder, mixed with Sprite to make it fluffy, sliced bananas and slathered with some red raspberry jam. And a side of scrambled eggs, many a day of fishing has begun with less breakfast than this. Ought to hold him till lunch.
  7. Lol, I am sure them rascals are wondering where that guy who likes to feed us the expensive rapalas has gone to. They will get their chance at me again, I am sure they need some new decorations for their home.
  8. Boom, there it is. Isn't it a great feeling figuring something like that out.
  9. That's the same reason on spinners for most using them left handed. I have always used left handed spinning reels and 20 years ago switched bait casters to left handed as well. Still have one right but it is because it has some sentimental value and mostly because for as seldom as its used it just isn't worth it. I can fish with about anything except a spinning reel with the handle on the right side, about like trying to throw a basbeall wih my off hand, just weird.
  10. Little Niangua is a snakey place for sure. Had a friend declare it as a 2 person creek. One to fish and one to carry a 20 ga. shotgun and pocket full of shells to cover the guy fishing. I seldom see even as many water snakes as I used to, possibly because I am not out as much anymore. Actual moccasins are rare for me, I only see them in the little off the beaten path and seldom fished creeks. The ones I usually see are very dark, usually thick, and when you get close you can see that ridge on their snout that reminds me of a flat top haircut. Some are curious and want to see who is in their creek, others just want to be alone. I am fine with leaving them alone. However if you are in a canoe you want to know how scared your buddy is of snakes before yiu go floating up to look at one, some guys get a but psychotic about snakes and will flip a canoe instead of simply paddling away.
  11. Good man. I hope to get a chance sometime soon to go looking for some of them myself. But the immediate future is looking good on that option.
  12. It's not missing a washer or 2 is it.
  13. Very nice but surely it is photoshopped. Walleye don't exist in Pomme.

Feeling poorly and left to my own devices, this is the result of my trip to the grocery store. Actually looks like I am 25 years younger and getting ready to spend a night on the creek.
  15. That authority should be with the MSHP, the COE wouldn't have any authority over it.
  16. I put a lot of time and thought into the cards I buy my wife. Once read one of them and teared up and hugged me so hard it was nearly painful. After she left I had to open the card and read it, had NO CLUE what it actually said until then. It was pretty sappy and sweet even if by accident. I have always told my wife that instead of a card for me for anythIng simply walk through the fishing department and buy a lure or something. Over the years I have received some nice shad raps and flicker shad instead of cards.
  17. I do the electronic app, but I also tend to print out a copy and put it in my glove box in the truck.

Green salad sounds great, I have been craving greens here lately. The crud had decended upon me, nothing I eat has any taste to it. Sucks. But I have been there before and it ain't kilt me yet. The is and descriptions of good foods actually helps, I can at least imagine what they must taste like.
  19. Wish there was a "super like" option.
  20. I tucked a card into my wifes luggage and dropped her off at the airport early Tuesday a.m.
  21. Or because there is little to no danger of depopulation due to overfishing.

    What's Cooking?

Supper with friends, son and a couple other young folks. Suggested home made pizza. Ours tend not to be as pretty but are packed with stuff. Frozen crust dough, hard salami, Kalama olives, pepwroni, artichoke hearts, silly amounts of cheese. One had cheese over top of evwrything, is why it looks brown. Also had a pasta salad, not low carb but dang good.
  23. Forgot about wapp. Most dams are a combination of earth fill portion and concrete portion, Table Rock has the concrete section along with a compacted earth fill. Yes it would take a very severe earthquake etc. To cause a failure. The most dangerous and biggest threats are piping and over topping, either can cause complete failure in a very short order. Teton dam is a good example of that. One thing about the COE is their manic devotion to dam safety. There are a set of ranking nationwide that essentially decide who gets the money for fixes first, combines, probable failure mode with results. Sort of if it fails and only farmland and relatively few people are affected it's gonna rank low, put one above say Nashville and show some major risks, it's gonna rank up there. It is stupid expensive to do some of those repairs but not many other choices.
  24. There are plans. Probably plans that describe what plans are to be on file.
