I noticed a tremendous shad hatch on Pomme as well. Saw 3 dirrerent year classes of shad, the new fry, some about a inch to 1.5 inches on and another school of 2 inch plus shad. Fish shouldn't go hungry this fall for sure. Sadly I wasn't fishing but sure sounds like a blast, and yep the thumb supplies proof as well.

Best things we ever used were liver tied in a mesh, or even better was a medium sunfish, either stomp it a few time or make several slices in it to let the juices out. I will add that if you put it in public water, hide it well. Or guard it, else you won't have the trap or the dads very long.

What color? Academy has them but multiple cor choices. -
I am gonna pass on that, but thanks. I would sit and drink a cold beverage (Mike's hard lemonade) and we can make a small scar if it makes ya feel better. Oddly cancer doesn't respond well to placebo treatments and if it doesn't work you die. I will take my chances with the slower death of chemotherapy for now.

Kind of what my dad did for me. Take care of the place, and always have a place for him and mom, he died the next year but mom made it 27 more years with no nursing home. My kids have jobs and lives but have always been willing to help when needed.

I would fonto a witch doctor right now if he would make me feel better.

Hope it works for ya.

See you all just got to complicate my thinking. I have had a pair of oakleys for 20 years with plastic lenses, replaced the lenses once, and ear pieces. I ge t oakleys discounted so they were my first thought. Tough part about good expensive (to me) su glasses is you never know exactly how they will perform until after you own them. -
I know some of you know a LOT more about sunglasses than I do, of course it doesn't take much to know more than I do. Assume I am going to buy a new pair of Oakleys, I can get them through work for about half of retail price. I want polarized lenses and at that point I quickly run out if knowledge. I think I want what they list as the desert series, amber lens, polarized, etc. Will be fishing and driving glasses. Give me wisdom, knowledge and or opinions please.

My thoughts, and they are worth exactly what you have paid me for them. First it is hard to fault to the reason for the framework for gun control, to reduce the number of mass shootings. Of course all things proposed by government are to make things better, few actually work out that way. The framework as does very little. I have zero problem with raising the age limit to purchase a semi auto rifle to 21. The whole you can join the army at 18 and have full auto weapons, yes you can, you also have a drill sergeant and later a platoon sergeant and a whole group if people training, watching you, you don't have that in private life. Ban of "assault weapons" is pointless, over 100 million in use now, and confiscating them would start a civil war immediately, nobody wants that. High capacity magazines same thing. Red flag laws, sounds good on the surface but how would it be implemented. If I remember correctly the Florida nightclub shooter was on an FBI no fly list, every one wanted to use that list, FBI said NO, their list does not have any judicial overview meaning they can add anyone they want with no proof of anything. If a red flag law was implemented more like a "no contact" order, meaning it was filed legally and went to a judge to decide if valid and for how long then due process has been observed, along with that comes the requirement that the individual be notified and have the right to appeal. Universal background check, if I wanted to sell Billethead my AR just who would I go through to check his background? If I could do it simply then no problem, but I don't see it being that easy, but hiw would anyone know if I sold it to him 10 years ago or this week. The other part of gun control measures is that are they changes which protected from further changes, are they set unless further legislation is passed or can one of the letter agencies make "policy changes. Overall we do have some gun control measures, no constitutional right is without its limits, and I don't have a problem with logical, purposeful measures, but doubt that many who are fully supportive of gun control would agree with me on what is logical and purposeful. I will always say that when you see anything hotly debated in congress it is more about political points i.e. re election or fund raising, than about doing anything useful to the citizenry as a whole.

That rings true to me. Don't know how many times I have caught two walleye in 2 or three consecutive universities casts when they are shallow and aggressive post spawn.
-
I know what one of them used, plain old truck/cart applied fertilizer. Certainly wasn't "organic". As much as they have planted all of the families together couldnt poop enough to fertilize their fields, horses included.

The Amish a few miles from.me have opened a store and have more tomato plants out than I have had in my entire life. Think I am pretty well done gardening.

It showed up shortly before memorial day weekend last year and burned out by late June. Kind of like the path it is on now. You wouldn't have seen it last fall.

No Pomme de Terre Lake isn't closed. Wouldn't even know how to begin to do that. However 3 of the 4 swim beaches were closed due to the presence of an HAB (harmful algal bloom). What was posted around the lake is a series of warnings to take a look at anyplace you are wanting to swim, the old phrase "if in doubt stay out" applies. Dogs seem to be the most at risk as they don't have the ability to evaluate Co diction and will happily dive right into the worst conditions, then lick their paws and legs. Still waiting for the results of these test samples taken. Visually it doesn't look as bad and may be burning out finally, Lindley side was much worse than Pomme side. Test results will be the deciding factor as to if the beaches will be re-opened.

I did play with the monitex a bit in the yard, so far not overwhelmed. Casting distance didn't seem to be any better than my 8 lb Nanofil. The stuff is slick for sure, had issues with it sliding off my finger and costing me some distance and accuracy. I used a uni to uni knot to tie on a mono leader and gave it a good hard pull to test it, hel just fine but so far I don't plan to replace the rest of my lines with it. Now for whatever reason Nanofil 8# in the white color is impossible to find in stock anywhere, but time is on my side looking for it.
-
What do you know about it? I stopped at BPS to pick up some Nanofil, none in stock which sent me on a search of what they did have. Couldn't find any I like in the right color or poundage. I did however find some Ardent Monotex or maybe GLISS, either way. It was super slick and the diameter of 12# test felt tiny. So what the heck I but a 150 yard spool. The one thing I really don't like is that is is a dark green and simply vanishes. I am a line watcher at times and if nothing else bright line makes it easier to tie for old corrupt eyes. But I have it and can use it for things that don't require me to watch. I can see issues with knots maybe but surely I can over come that. If not I have spent more and gotten less. But any info you fellers might have would be appreciated. Maybe I can add some info in the near future.

Google said around 50 degrees. Zero clue how accurate that is.

Oddly enough I am thinking the corn kernels soaked in balls of fire nectar might make some good hush puppies.!

Well that it would, but it's hard to hide the taste of trout, unless you have some spoonbill, that will make trout taste better, or maybe some taco bell offerings.
-
Well that isn't much of an endorsement. There a lot of fish I would rather eat then trout. Every member of the sunfish family included, perch family, catfish family,, even true bass like white bass. Heck even an ugly Ole carp if I get to fix it my way.
-
Maan I used to love catching them big greenies out of the creeks. Would occasionally catch a natural hybrid bluegill/greenie also, delicious and fun to catch on fly rod or ultra light. And the occasional bass that would try to tie my little rod in knots just made it sweeter. Throw in an occasional punkinseed with their colors and it brings back a lot of good memories.
-
Well I wasn't gonna be the first that mentioned some misspent time as a younger feller with a .22 at the creek with some "Billy gar" up on the riffles.
-
They are certainly edible and not bad if cooked and seasoned properly, however having a freezer full of fish, beef and deer I don't eat them. I have bought fishing/hunting licenses since I was old enough to require them never thought twice about it just bought them and moved on. Even easier now, buy them from phone. If you see and agent checking a line of phone and you are quick you could have one bought before he gets to you. Of course you might so be the guy he starts with. 😏
