    What's Cooking?

I like liver, but deer liver has never appealed to me. Tonight's repast was a hard fried egg, slice of cheese like stuff, on a couple pieces of white bread, with a few slices of summer sausage for flavor. Not bad, but should have washed my hands first. They were sort of coated with deer blood. Wife popped a little button buck right at dark. And where I live we have to make the quick run for CWD check. Now I am gonna skin and drop the quarters into a cooler with ice. Maybe tomorrow she will add to the meat pile.
  2. OUCH!
  3. Nice buck Champ! My wife saw nothing this mm morning. I saw a few along the roaf about daylight on my way fishing. I only had a few nice crappie and gave them to another guy that had a couple. Did watch guy nearby catch 14 nice ones, so it goes. Currently I am sitting in a lawn chair about 100 yards from my house, pretending to deer hunt but thinking more about the "thump" on my ultralight than deer.
  4. MoCarp, whg were you in the hospital for 8 months.?
  5. Eat carp it's healthier for you.
  6. Perhaps you should microfish for baby carp. Once you experience that strike and the micro gear destroying series of runs you will forever be a convert to micro fishing for baby carp. In fact you will be lucky to land one before the horde or predators such as bass and walleye decent upon it, because ther is nothing they love more and a micro carp. You will be lucky to salvage your tackle and pride. Hey MOCARP can't be everywhere, just trying to keep all threads carp related.
  7. I think you could sell that last bait as a snack ball for fishermen. If all else fails we could chuck them out for chum, would draw in all the baby carp, which would bring in all other predators to eat them.
  8. Sometimes them fish don't read the same books we do and just don't know they are or are not supposed to bite under certain conditions.
  9. I seriously doubt the guberment could pull off any of the conspiracy theories they are accused of. I uderstand your humor, just those two so close together tickled me somewhat.
  10. I do admit that I see a good bit of humor between these two quotes.

    I love smoked gouda.
  12. And the rest of us mostly just don't care. I am not gonna hit any ignore button, I have thumbs I can use them to ignore goofy posts, although sometimes I think I am in an episode of Cheers and Norm the mailman is expounding on something.
  13. Dang, guess I will just keep running my Yama ha 90 HP 2 stroker. I have lost count of the "incidents" I have witnessed at boat ramps over the years, wish I had them all on video.
  14. I understand that pins and needles feeling JD, all you can do is fight. Nobody fight alone sir, hopefully you will be able to feel the prayers we will send your way. Hang in there and fight.
  15. Build it and they will come. Best material is free stuff.
  16. More likely the increased demand is because there is a coal plant off line for repairs or maintenence and they are using hydro electric to make up the difference. Only SWPA would know for sure.

    What's Cooking?

Looks tasty RPS if a bit too healthy for me. I am going to call my series of meals the "dirty T shirt" series. My wife stopped by the local store where she found some large pork steaks on sale. Every bit of 3/4 inch thick, I opted to.simply season it with the salt/pepper/garlic powder mix I like and drop it into a cast iron skillet to sear a little, then reduced it to sizzle a while. In a second skillet I diced uo some red taters and browned them in some olive oil and bacon grease. Add salad in a bag and boom supper is served about 30 minutes later. For drinks I chose tap water for my mom and a flat partly drank coca cola for me. Flavor was very good, I give it the "dirty T shirt" seal of approval.

Well that fish pie sure looks good.
  19. Wow nice buck! I get a little excited each year, but my wife likes to shoot deer from the covered blind I built for her, so generally I don't hunt them much anymore. On the plus side I usually help with Stockton Lakes deer hunt for physically challenged hunters. Kill was down some from years past, but plenty of deer around. A few decent bucks, one beautiful monster I saw in a field on the way to pick one hunters kill. Of course plenty of buttons and delicious sized deer. A couple days of smelling lie deer guts all day pretry well cures my blood lust. Hopefully my wife's season will be good, because when she does well life is pretty good for me too.

A few years ago I had tons of butternut squash and tried to make butternut squash soup, mine was not particularly good. What recipe did you use.
  22. Clean that heart out well, remove all the fibrous stuff, slice it thin and marinate it for a while and grill them quickly on a hot firw. Don't over cook them and it will be tasty. Well done on the persistence trailing that doe.
  23. Holy Carp! I have been out working a special deer hunt all day, come home worn out, stinky and resting up for another day tomorrow, thinking, hmmm I will see what the fellers on OA are up to, and dad gum if it ain't carp again.
  24. Heck yeah, filleted, scored and deep fried with a side of taters. Put that fillet and some taters between a couple slices of bread and add some picante sauce. Wash down with a cold beer, or coca cola if you prefer. Good eats.
