  1. Some very nice fish, keep the upside down pictures coming 😀
  2. Yep, when it works right, you animate and mend in the same movement, always keeping close contact.
  3. I’m that guy, with about 6-8 baits. Thank you, Norm,
  4. I drove through your block a few years ago and seen it. Quite a show.
  5. You guys have it going on, love the report.

    What's Cooking?

Looks good, I bookmarked it for later. This weekend I’ll be cooking over a fire on a gravel bar, rib eyes on Thursday and marinated pork steaks on Friday. Life is good.
  7. That’s a fine fleet of boats, just about perfect for the Ozarks. Marshfield is a great location too, fish in every direction, all you need to do is go exploring. The only advice I can give you is to be aware of the scoundrels, lowlifes and thieves that frequent our River accesses, never leave anything you don’t want to lose in your vehicle.
  8. You could find a Short Bend or a Prong or a Fork to float, but that doesn’t work well with groups, I’d rather drag and float those anyway.
  9. Yep, the last 24 hours have not been encouraging.
  10. This has been my experience, It fits well into how I like to float and camp. Leisurely mornings drinking coffee, fish hard in the afternoon, evenings cooking over an open fire plinking beer cans with a BB gun.
  11. The Hazelgreen gage shows the river setting down. The W.U. rain gages at Hartville and Mansfield (Ganade. headwaters), Niangua, (O.F. Headwaters) Cabool (B.P. Headwaters) had 0 precip. Last night. I figured all we had to do was dodge one more wave of storms and we’d be good.
  12. I’ll be there Friday morning. I’ll have my own tent which has a padlocked door and an alarm system in case someone gets weird and wants to spoon. Thanks for putting this together Gavin.
  13. Incredible!
  14. Excellent, I need somebody in my boat.
  15. I’m in for Sat/Sun, Friday is a maybe.
  16. Boiling Springs? Ruby's Landing?
  17. I suspect Trumans demise will be much less dramatic than a catastrophic failure. Truman like all reservoirs will slowly fill with silt. Some generation in the far future will wonder why 20th century Americans thought it was a good idea to turn a perfectly good river into a temporary lake.
  18. Yep, I’d say you already know how to catch Smallmouth with a fly rod, at times it’s identical to casting. If you don’t already have one get a 7 or 8 wt. and have at it. The only advice I could offer is learn to cast efficiently, (not like Bill Dance).
  19. Two special places come to mind, a stretch of the middle Gasconade River where we could always count of having the river to ourselves despite the time of year and day of the week. The other is lake 37 at Busch Wildlife, since my first trips in the 70’s all the timber disappeared, and a third of the lake has silted in, I guess I’ve aged right along with it.
  20. Rainbows especially recently stocked fish don’t seem care if a boat goes over their head, browns will do anything to avoid a boat. Several years ago we ran across a brown that was trapped between our boat and an inches deep gravel flat, the fish swam back and forth looking for a place to hide. When it finally passed us by we were astonished at the size, until we got a good look at it we were asking ourselves if was a beaver. Hang around that river enough and you’ll see some amazing things.
  21. That is a cool story, what an awesome river.
  22. "What criteria determines whether something is or isn't a "gamefish"? Not sure but I'd think having the physical qualities of water balloon would a disqualify a Warmouth.
  23. Warmouth are game fish, Redear and Bluegill are not, WTF?
  24. Very nice fish, especially the Rainbow. What kind of boat is that?
