  1. Wow. Seems like I remember a time when that wasn't an acceptable defense. Must have been a long range shotgun I guess. Leavenworth County Sheriffs department told me that unless I saw someone and could describe and identify them there wasn't anything they could do. Bonner Springs PD just said, "Yeah, probably somebody down by the river. Happens every once in a while." Didn't bother contacting any law enforcement in the Table Rock incident but was talking to a Water Patrol guy well after the fact and brought it up and he said, "Oh yeah, that happens all the time down here." 🤷‍♂️
  2. I've actually had this happen three different times over the years and even had the front right fender of my Tahoe shot while traveling north on 7 Highway through Bonner Springs, Ks. Another was on a private lake in west Leavenworth County when somebody was shooting a .22 up in the woods and accidentally or not hit the side of my boat. The third was while in the back of a creek at Table Rock about seven or eight years ago. This one had to have been a guy target shooting in back of his house and again in the woods. We heard about six shots all together before we were able to hightail it out of there and could hear a couple of rounds hit the trees and another went over our heads. You're right it's pretty dang scary. Glad you're alright and hope the moron learned his lesson although I'm a little surprised he fessed up.
  3. Oooooh. 😬 And so it begins. Thanks a lot Dave, for outing me. Now I won't even be able to go to WalMart for cryin' out loud.
  4. That's OK. I've learned to own and wear it pretty well over the years! And the amount of evidence is rather compelling.......🤦‍♂️
  5. Yeah we've definitely shared weeks and storm experiences with you a few times. Yet somehow I always seem to take the blame........🤔 We're a week later than normal this year so perhaps the identity of the REAL weather disaster culprit will finally be revealed! Can't say as I'm expecting to be exonerated however.🌩️
  6. And nobody could understand why I waited until I was 49 to get married and even then it was with considerable reluctance. Glad I got lucky when I finally did. Back in my twenties when all my friends were giving me hell about not being married and having kids I told them that in ten years the only difference between me and them was gonna be alimony and child support. In way more than half the cases I was right too. Best of luck - I'm grateful to have only witnessed such goings on from the cheap seats.
  7. Aw, c'mon Dave! It won't be the same without having you to share the misery with! Looking at the forecast the weather gods apparently think we're coming this weekend and staying thru next week though.
  8. Ya know I forgot all about that having been rescheduled or would've planned for it. We typically head back pretty early on that day but I'll see what I can do. My brother just became a grandpa for the first time a couple of months ago though so I'm not sure how flexible his return home time is gonna be but I'll certainly keep it in mind. In any case thanks for reminding me!
  9. At the request of the Branson Chamber of Commerce I had been kinda keeping it on the down low so as to not disrupt tourism throughout the area but since you asked yes we are. We'll be heading down next month the 12th thru the 20th. There. I said it.
  10. I still remember when my mom and dad retired constantly asking. "What day is today anyways?" and I thought that had to be the coolest feeling in the world. I was right! Pro tip: In the unlikely event you ever get bored I highly recommend taking a nap!
  11. The only downside to retirement that I can put my finger on is that scheduling stuff can be difficult when you never know what day it is! But then I'm only ten years in so I'm sure I still have a lot to learn. Congratulations!
  12. Guiness? 🤮
  13. Like a lot of guys I used to have a couple of motorcycle helmets in the boat for running in cold and rain and they save our butts a couple of time when it started hailing. Now I've got the Fish Hedz or whatever they're called that wouldn't do much good in hail but then I've become such a lazy posterior fair weather fisherman that the odds of me getting caught out in something are about zero these days. And with all the empty docks on Table Rock there's always someplace to hide. Now the lightning is a different deal though.
  14. I saw this video yesterday and my first thought was, why didn't he head to the bank and at least get under the trees? Whenever I've been caught out on the lake in a storm I first try and get to an empty dock (that I've already scouted out if weather appears threatening) and if that's not doable then get to the bank and beach the boat. I've had people suggest that's dumb because of trees attracting lightning but I'll take my chances in the trees over being out in open water any day. Especially in a hailstorm.
  15. Wow! Clinton?
  16. The Kansas City Cabela's has turned into a BPS outlet store. We used to stop in there once every week or two. Now we stop by every four or five months just to see if it's still as bad as the time before and they never disappoint! And some area of the store is constantly under construction, being moved or "renovated" or repurposed or re-whatever. I honestly can't remember the last time I actually bought something there and I really like buying stuff.
  17. Kinda what I figured. Think I'll just stick with my Lew's and put the two hundred towards beer, bourbon and golf balls..... Thank you everyone for being so kind!
  18. Pardon my ignorance but like others here I haven't wasted my time with this deal in many many years (and for the same reasons) so I don't really remember how it works. Is it one trade in per new reel purchased? Or can I trade in five used reels for basically a "free" Tatula? Again, sorry if it's a dumb question but then I AM dumb and old to boot so please be kind........🤷‍♂️
  19. Agreed! I asked Bo once about a 1/16 oz crappie head and he said, "There's no need. The 1/8 oz will do anything that a 1/16 oz will. You just need to adjust the size of your line to change the rate of fall." I've got about a million jig heads but rarely use anything for smaller soft plastics than Bo's crappie head. Dave's are the best Ned heads ever but I'm not nearly as proficient as he is and on lazy days (which seem to occur much more frequently in recent years) I sometimes prefer the fact that Bo's very seldom get hung up and when they do they pretty much never break off. And again no offense to Dave!
  20. Shortly after Bo's passing I placed an order for some jigs and assorted other NuTech products and received a phone call by a young man named Taylor who was a college student and worked part time for Bo. He was doing his best to keep things going and couldn't have been more helpful or personable. He indicated at the time that he hoped to keep things afloat until someone else came along to take the company over. Unfortunately that apparently never happened. I just went back to an email exchange I had with him dated 7/19/21 but there was no other pertinent information nor his full name.
  21. They're the only ones I've used since I first heard about them and that's quite a few years ago now. Bo's crappie heads are really good too and super versatile. Guess I'm gonna have to quit giving them away to people to try! Good thing they're nearly impossible to lose.
  22. Not much to cluck about! That was a great win for you guys. Free throws matter and y'all made 'em and we didn't. You guys got a really good coach and a lot of talent although he needs to learn to act like he's been there before cuz he has. Shouldn't make beating us look like such a big deal. Y'all would have been a much higher seed if injuries hadn't been such a factor during the season. Good luck the rest of the way - I've been an Arkansas fan ever since Musselman got there except for the shirt waving....
  23. Mr. Babler introduced me to the Falcon Cara Jeff Kreit Squirrel tail spinning rod several years back and it's by far the best and most versatile spinner I've ever owned. I have two and it's tuff to put them down and pick up one of my many G. Loomis spinning rods.
  24. I dunno about colored water as I never even tried that. If the water isn’t clear I doubt you could see much of anything. The infrared lights make a huge difference in “dark” water, aka deeper water though. However, the clarity of the picture in clear water is just like watching TV. Maybe not Ultra 4K HD but really good. As for the fish I referred to in Indian Creek I’d say the camera was four or five feet away and it was easy to tell it was a Kentucky. Even at that depth the picture was crystal clear and in vivid color. Trees, rocks, etc. were equally evident up to probably twenty or twenty five feet away. After that it pretty much fades to a grey blur.
  25. We went up that way yesterday too. Rode to Cape Fair marina as it was just too hot to sit still for very long. On the way back we went up into Piney and fished a Ned for about half an hour and caught three thirteen or fourteen inch Kentuckies and missed two other bites all in ten feet of water or less. Most action I’ve had in about forever but it was just too miserable back there with no breeze. Water temperature back in Piney was 85.5! Fished the Kimberling bridge for twenty minutes or so as the shade and breeze was nice but not a sniff. Didn’t fish more than an hour total but burned about twenty five gallons of “cheap” gas cruising around keeping “cool”. Back to the golf course today and tomorrow but might run back up the James Thursday if it ain’t too COLD!! Thanks Al Gore…. Geez.
