    Favorite fish fry

I found some stuff that is quite tasty. It is called “J.R. Mad’s Magic Fish Breading”. First I just used corn meal, then I moved to Louisiana, then I found JR Mad’s. I think it is the best, but my wife still prefers straight corn meal. I also really like to make a batter and cook them Fish & Chips style with some malt vinegar. Of course, there is also cover it in Old Bay and pan fry/blacken it in butter. That maybe my new favorite way to eat fish.
  2. Come on up! It is starting to pick up a little.
  3. I’ve heard that it is getting to be pretty well fished out, but I haven’t been and can’t confirm.
  4. Hahahahahahahahaha 🤣 😂 😆 😆 😂 🤣 😢 😢 😢 😢 😢 😞 😞
  5. THAT is THE ultimate question.
  6. Definitely easier said than done( especially with kids). Being completely debt free is an incredibly amazing feeling though.
  7. Investment losses have been great for many including myself. However, I am viewing this as an amazing buying opportunity. I guarantee there will be a tremendous amount of money made by investors when this whole deal is over.
  8. If you find out, please report back. I’d love to know the answer to that. I’m gonna have to go check the closet and see what I’ve got in stock. Maybe I could buy a new trolling motor and all the fancy electronics with my Lysol spray and some TP.
  9. 🤷‍♂️
  10. This right here is the key! Too many people spend money they don’t have and are then in a major bind when there is any kind of hiccup. What frustrates me, though, is that these people are often given relive or are “bailed out” when crap hits the fan which effectively punishes those people that have been conservative with their money an do not receive the ”assistance” (think student loan forgiveness).
  11. 31 mile mark at the point by Linn Creek cove at the convergence of the osage and niangua. I agree that it is super weird here. I understand how the way they do it here makes more sense to people in some ways, but in other ways, like you mentioned, it becomes more difficult.
  12. I was catching mine pretty close to the bank. I had a 3/4 oz spinnerbait with white/purple skirt and two big willow blades (one silver, one gold). Sloooow rolling it. I caught mine close to 11 mile marker. Water wasn’t clear, but wasn’t muddy either. I don’t know what it looks like in the glaize, but I was thinking about heading in there sometime soon to check it out.
  13. It was a tough day for most of my bass club today. Only one limit brought in. The wind was brutal. I caught three nice keepers on a spinnerbait earlier in the day for a little over 9 pounds. I only managed one other short fish. Looks like more people are starting to catch them on LOZ, but it definitely isn’t a great bite yet.
  14. I believe camdenton is around $1.85. I just heard that there is someplace in Arkansas where gas is $0.99!
  15. Very nice. If you aren’t on there already, there are a few Champion Boat Facebook pages. You might find an interested buyer on one of them.
  16. I fully agree. We are ruining a great fishery with all of the tournaments on LOZ. I feel like it gets more difficult every year to catch fish. There are lots of great fish on this lake for sure, but I feel like they are just becoming more and more difficult to find and catch. It is well known that if you want to catch good sized retreads, you need to go to one place on this lake because there at least 4-5 tournaments (and often many more than that) out of that one location every week pretty much year round. The fish I catch there are usually decent sized fish, but they always look so sickly.
  17. I think using touneyx is a great idea for a solution to running modern bass tournaments. I’d love to see that become a thing around here.
  18. This is true. Unfortunately, some just won’t. I had a student a few years back that had two kids before she was 17. She straight told me that she didn’t need to pay attention in class VP because it didn’t matter if she graduated or not. Her life goal was to live on government assistance. Her mom did the same thing and so did her grand mother (all their lives) and it was all she knew or cared about. Believe me, she knew exactly how to play the system to get absolutely everything she could possibly get from it. It blew my mind what she told me she could get from the government. Kinda made me want to just give up and quit working myself. She was getting almost as much in benefits doing nothing as I was teaching full time plus extracurricular activity work.
  19. We had our last day of school today until at least April 6. There is a lot of speculation that it could last longer than that, possibly even for the rest of this school year. We are going to attempt to use google classroom to provide instruction to the students to that have internet access.
  20. I took my wife there when we were still dating many years ago and thought her how to fish. She caught her first fish on the Finley just below Lindenlure. Even then, it was beginning to get pretty rowdy. It evolved for the worse as years have come and gone. Druggies leaving not just trash, but dirty needles laying around everywhere. It really sucks that it is closed, but I don’t blame them. The really sucky part is the reputation the locals have for NOT granting permission to access. The rock climbing community would love to get access to the Bluffs along there, but it is virtually impossible to get permission to access any of that private land.
  21. I saw that. That is completely insane!
  22. I think you can pretty much treat pheasants like turkey. I personally like to dip in flour and pan fry. I dip in honey and/or honey mustard.
  23. I like using them both. Keitechs are softer and have more scent. I use them both pretty much interchangeably. Keitechs give me a bit more confidence, but I don’t know that there is any real fish catching difference.
  24. A great looking boat! I’m sure you will have no difficulty selling that treasure.
  25. Depends on what I am hunting, how far away it is, how much other hunting pressure it receives, etc. I don’t think there is a one-size-fits-all answer to this question for me. I’ve hunted all of the above and had great success and have also blanked. For hogs, look south of Fort Leonard Wood. Lots of hogs around there in the MTNF and on private land. I can tell you, those buggers are super destructive.
