I don't know that I'm at 30, but I'm sure I'm at least in the 20's. Most trips I have about 12 or so in the boat, including spares and rods for guests. I try and keep the boat light, and only take what the seasonal patterns and the lake I'm planning to fish say I'll need. I've been bitten in the butt a couple of times from not having something I'd like to have with me, but for me it's easier to just have less stuff in the boat. I also try and cull baits that I haven't caught fish on. I'll try something new from time to time, but if I don't get anything going with it, it goes away. same with colors. I try and keep things to two or three colors per bait, enough to let me match conditions, but I don't get too specific. I don't want to be second guessing the whole time I'm fishing, I want to be focusing my brain on where the fish are and what they are doing. I found I'm a better fisherman with less stuff to choose from, but it's still hard to keep things streamlined, mainly because some of you bastards keep posting links to tackle warehouse!!! Lol

My go to spinnerbait for years has been the Picasso 1/4 oz size double willow in a shad color, with one white painted blade and one chrome. I add a good lump of solder to the shank of the hook to give it a little extra weight, and burn it fast on flats on cloudy days. I've had some unreal strikes on that bait, those clear water bass will just slam it!

I don't know, it's been a while since I've bought any. The last ones I got were online direct from them. Not sure if they are still around or not.

Picasso makes a great spinnerbait as well- love their painted blades on a cloudy day

I'll throw another rabbit trail on the derailment.. Y'all be tripping if you don't think that the people that are greedy enough to walk away from $400 million in public cash and move their sportball team back to LA while lying about their obvious intent aren't also greedy enough to go back to the scenes Old Plug is describing. I'm not a union member, but I do recognize their role in a world where there is zero economic loyalty to anyone. Most large corporations have no more loyalty to America and its economy than Stab Kroenke had to St. Louis and its football fans. In decades past, you did have American captains of industry who were Americans first, capatilists second. Somewhere (from my view about the 80's) that sort of economic patriotism totally vanished. I'm 42, and while I think our country has made a lot of positive progress as far as equal rights for women and folks who have more of a tan than I do, we have lost a lot from those that lived through the Great Depression and WWII about what it means to be American and to be in this thing together. How's that for a derailment!!! (sorry Phil, and respect to all OAF members, even those who don't agree with me, I'd share a boat with any of you) now back to spooling line and wishing Bull wasn't 30 feet high...

Did you give the wife the wrong answer for the old "does this dress make my butt look big?" ?

Except they won't give those megawatts away, they will hold as much water as they can and pray for a dry spring. I only hope they don't miscaculate and flood people again when they have to open gates for a three day rain event.

Good friend of mine has a home in Branson down the street and under the railroad from Scotty's, and it's now underwater.

That water makes a lot of money in July and August- follow that money through all the places it goes and I'll bet you'll find the reason the lakes are staying closer to full pool in the last several years...

who for boat seats?
mixermarkb replied to jwilson48's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
For that model year, I'd call deans top and canvas in Mt. Home, Arkansas. They were the OEM for Champion for many years, and you will get the exact seats you need. It may not be the cheapest, but it would be worth a few extra dollars to have it done right. -
I knew what it was from the first ad and want it, I just don't have an extra $250 at the moment- kids going back to school and all...

G Loomis GL2 7'10'' what application?
mixermarkb replied to Smallie Seeker's topic in General Angling Discussion
I'd say cranking rod, maybe even deep cranking depending on how much backbone. The GL2 rods tend to have a slightly slower action than the IMX/GLX/NRX rods- I don't know how serious it is about a 1oz bait, but I'd try throwing a DT16 on it and see what happens before I'd try and use it as a bottom contact rod. The GL2 isn't the most sensitive graphite ever... -
I'm with hog Wally, best use I've found is when you have a tangle or a backlash, hose it down, and things will pull right out that would crimp otherwise- also really does seem to help flouro last a little longer

Sales on pontoons must be going well! I was bass fishing, but don't have much to report in that area. A 4 pound LMB, a half dozen 12-16" bass, one white and an 18" walleye for me on deep cranks, and a half dozen 12-16" bass for my buddy on 3/4oz football jigs. Main lake points. But man did we limit out on pontoons! At one point 7 in a row went between us and the no boat bouy on the point we were fishing. I had one pass behind us on a point, circle around, and go between us and the bank we were casting at to look at the for sale signs on the bank. Crazy the total disregard for the rules of the road out there. At least the bigger boats seemed to mainly know where to drive- Anyway. It was hot. Fishing was slow until the sun started getting low, and the bikini watching was fair at best. All in all, long tough day, but better than working-

"Almost everyone I've talked to, fishermen and party boaters alike, has mentioned how much they enjoyed the (NWW) No Wake Weekend and has said they wished it would happen more often." Wow, government mandates common sense and it "mostly" works!

I think it's hilariously funny that a 5' rise gets that kind of panic when Bull is 30' high and headed up.

May be worth your while to take your 24 to a good prop guy and have him tweek it to get you what you need. Might end up just the same cost wise-

8 or 6 matters a lot to the bass when finesse fishing in clear water. I've never lost a fish on 6 that I thought I would have landed on 8, but I've gotten a whole lot of bites on 4 or 6 that I know I wouldn't have gotten with 8.

Ever notice the fish tend to be all in groups of similar size? In simple terms, those are the years that the spawn and fry recruitment went well. Like all the big bass may be 5 pounders in a given year, there may be a bunch of 14" bass, and a bunch of 10" bass. The facts are, the 11",12"13", 15"16"17" years all didn't do as well. It's pretty common on the white river lakes to get a good spawn once every three years. These lakes are MUCH more fragile than most people think, but don't take my word for it, I believe our whole planet is more fragile than most think, and that we humans dont do a very good job of conservation when it comes to anything.

If you want to keep a few fish to eat, from time to time, I'm not going to call you out on it. But to come on here, learn how and where from the reports on here, then go catch, keep and fry, and then come back posting about it in the very people's faces who gave you the info to help find fish in the first place, is a douchebag move in my opinion. I don't blame guys a bit for clamming up on the information.
