I wish I got to fish at night more! Wish I still got to fish tournaments too. One day I hope work will no longer hold me back from doing both! Good luck at your tournament and hopefully you'll get to enjoy some nice weather if nothing else

Looks like it will be a bit more of a slashbait with more side to side movement than the 110? Good looking bait.

1/4oz jighead is my favorite way to fish it. Great little bait that will really catch them and will catch a nice mixed bag of fish a lot of days too. I've caught a ton of walleyes, whites, crappies, hybrids, drum, cats, just about everything on them

I actually prefer to Carolina rig them but to each his own

Nice, I've never fished Clinton but my buddy said he got on them real good one day last year and it was as fast as he could get a bait in the water for about 20 minutes and then they stopped. That's wiper fishing!

You getting them at Milford? They're a blast when you get on a school of them like that.

I hate to even ask, how much? -
I'm sure everyone has tried to start their boat for a few minutes without any luck only to realize they'd pulled the kill switch when they stood up after their last run.

We have one lake with Florida strain in KS, but it's a power plant lake. Also happens to be about the only lake in the state where you have a legit shot at a 10lb largemouth I believe they're supposed to be crossing with northern strain and it would make sense because it seems the big fish are becoming fewer and farther between.

Have you ever fished it on Nanofil? That's what I fish my Ned's on, it casts a mile and is really sensitive. I run a short 2 or 3 foot fluoro leader and I'm 100% positive I catch more fish with it than I do trying to run straight fluoro because of the sensitivity of it. When I'm fishing it at least the fish often bite very lightly, I'm assuming because the fish don't see it as something that can get away quickly so no reason to try to kill it. I also superglue my baits on, otherwise they slide down the hook every casts after a couple fish and it drives me crazy!

Jig's I Know You Guys Have Your Go To Jig But!
bluebasser86 replied to eyedabassman's topic in Table Rock Lake
I'm with a few of the other guys in that I pour and tie my own. Cost a fraction of what a store bought jig costs and even those picky TRock bass eat them well. -
I got mine from Jannsnetcraft.com. Great little jighead. I like the 1/4oz size that is also in that mold for my swing impacts also.

Normal stick baits work alright on the Ned but not nearly as well as the Zman baits. We catch tons of smallies out of the local lakes on a Ned rig with a Zinker in Kansas. As a side note, I got info from an employee at the Olathe BPS that Ned Kedhe, the guy for whom the Ned rig is named after, caught a new Kansas state record smallmouth from Lake Shawnee in Topeka, I'm assuming on his namesake rig. I've fished that lake and had no idea it had smallmouth that size but nothing official about it yet and no idea if he's submitted it for an official record or not. Supposedly it weighed 6lbs 10ounces.

Ned Rig, Michiganders, And A Babler Sighting
bluebasser86 replied to dtrs5kprs's topic in Table Rock Lake
I pour my own with the Do it Worm Nose jig, the 3/32oz uses a #2 the 1/8 uses a #1, I use the black nickel Mustad hooks. Lots of companies make them but the original Gopher mushroom head is probably the most popular and is also made with a Mustad hook. http://do-itmolds.com/shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=1_7_233 Best solution I've found for a weedguard http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Hook-Guard-for-Weedless-Lures/product/1997/?cmCat= My theory for why the ned rig is so effective is it looks like so many things that are easy to catch. If a small craw is making a break for it, it tucks all it's legs and claws in and when it tail flips and tucks up under it's body it looks very similar to half a Zinker on a jighead. It also resembles a small baitfish wandering aimlessly around the bottom just waiting to be eaten. There is no doubt it catches fish when nothing else will. -
Had a guy do pretty much the same thing to me at one of our lakes here in Kansas. The only sign to keep away was at the gas dock. Ok, that one makes sense so people can get in and out if they need gas, don't want to risk damaging the gas line, plus there's public fishing from that dock. However when I went to fish the other docks a guy came out yelling I couldn't fish them?? When I asked him why he said my PLASTIC trolling motor prop was a danger to the braided STEEL dock cables??? I didn't argue with him about it but when I emailed the district ranger office I never got an answer. I don't understand how you can own part of a public piece of water.

I thought about using that head also since I already have it too but the casting jig's eye is more towards the top of the head and the hook was a little heavier to hold big fish. Bad thing is if it gets snagged your chances of straightening the hook out goes way down.

I've hit the 5 pound mark 3 times with smallmouth, all from 2 different lakes in Kansas. The first 2 were before my digital camera days but I do have pictures of them framed in my man cave at home. The most recent was this 20" toad that had about a 8-9 inch crappie's tail sticking out of her throat. She still tried to eat a tiny little Lucky Craft CBS Zero thankfully.

I pour my own. I use 3/16 or 1/4oz casting jig mold and pour them without the weedguard hole. It's a very sharp hook that is heavier wire than most swimbait hooks. Unfortunately I forgot all of the ones I poured at home except the 5 I had on my A-rig. After I lost that I was using 1/4oz worm nose jig heads. They worked ok but the hooks on them are pretty thin wire. My big striper partially straightened 3 of the 5 hooks on my rig with the worm nose heads. Didn't have any problems with any hooks when I had the casting jig heads. It has a big collar that holds the baits on well but doesn't destroy them. Picture this head without the weedguard. http://do-itmolds.com/shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=1_8_332

My buddy Jon and I spent a couple days on Beaver this week chasing stripers and bass. The first day we smoked the bass, mainly on A-rigs and a Scatter Rap. My buddy got a 14.57 pound striper on an A-rig when they started blasting shad just outside the no wake buoys. More of the same the next day. And I finally got to mix it up with a bigger striper the last day and Jon got his new PB smallmouth. Couldn't have done it without the info you guys on here share. Neither of us had ever seen the lake before this week or caught a striper. Bad thing is now I think I'm hooked on striper fishing and we don't have any close by

I hate the colors in the new Warts. My buddy and I picked up some of the new Luck E Strike Wart Hogs and have been very impressed with them so far. They got the bugs worked out they had with the very first ones and they have great action and catch fish well.

Still Some Crappie In The James River Arm, .....but.....
bluebasser86 replied to duckydoty's topic in Table Rock Lake
I wish our game wardens would check people more often. I think there's just so few of them is the biggest problem. I see so many illegal fish being kept and usually call but it's pretty rare for them to respond at all and when they do it seems like whoever was doing it is usually gone by then. I did get to watch a guy get all his gear taken for netting crappie a few weeks ago, pretty much made my day -
It was neat to be able to figure out where the guys were fishing so we could watch them but the other nice thing is that the tracking technology can be used for good as well as evil. After the boats were off the water and headed to weigh in on Day 2, we were able to track the guys throughout the day and see areas they hadn't fished so we could kill some time on the water without stepping on any toes and sore lipping the pros fish. We did pretty decent with several solid keepers and one of my buddies even caught a new PB on a jerkbait, a super fat 6.94lb fish that was busting at the seams at only 21.5" long. We fished a bit on day 3 and twice had pros pull right up on us but we just put our rods down and backed off and watched them work. I would have liked to have followed them more but with all the running and gunning going on my little 60hp just couldn't keep up.

Great fish and release! What'd you get that big dude on? I'll be down there with a buddy in a little over a month looking for one of those big guys to stretch our string.
-
I wonder if they'll have a tournament official check their livewells after takeout to verify their fish are alive so if an angler loses a fish en route to the weigh in they aren't penalized? I'd certainly be upset in a tournament of that magnitude to get penalized for a dead fish because the weigh in was over an hour away when they were all live when I was leaving.

I could pour you some shakyheads without the screw lock. The head is already designed to be drug along the bottom and it has a nice long shank hook. My mold has both the sizes you're looking for and takes a Mustad 32798 Flat Eye hook. I have lots of different colors of powder paint I couple paint them for you and would be really interested in trading for some nice hair jigs. http://do-itmolds.com/shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=1_7_264
