    What's Cooking?

Done working at 2 today. Playing with a new gizmo. Prime rib roast. Gonna let it roll for 2hrs then incinerate it quickly under the broiler.

    CRAZY

Know that access, bought 5-6 miles south of 44. but very isolated. Sorry for the family of the corpse.
  4. Will need more than just glue. Have an idea.
  5. Seems a bit narcissistic for Nixon to name a park after himself while still Governor (Out just yesterday) but he has expanded the park system allot. Is what it is. Does the property tie into Johnson Shut Ins SP off the Taum Sauk Trail? Might be a good addition, but not sure where it is. Don't think I want the State to sell it back no matter who it is named after. Remote Land with no public access is a good metaphor for Nixon though.
  6. Ouch my brother! Think I'd drill the crack at the bottom so it doesn't run any further, then put a Royalex skid plate kit on the inside only. Might not need one on the outside. My Wenonah cracked and holed through on the bottom (right under the rear seat) and it has skid plates on the outside and inside. Could help you with the repair, but your gonna need a couple days of 60 degree weather if you want a good bond.
  7. Welcome...Lots of St. Louis folks on here...Live in Webster Groves, work in Maryland Heights...High Ridge isn't far from the Big, Meramec, or Mineral Fork if you want to do some river bass fishing.
  8. Congrats on the new job, and good luck...I'm sure you find some good fishing & hunting within reasonable driving distances.
  9. Browns are either on the feed or off. Glad you had a good trip! A jerkbait would up the size on the Browns when they are on. Won't catch many rainbows on one, and usually on back hook if a rainbow eats a jerkbait. Browns crush the front hook mostly unless the size, depth, and cadence is wrong.

    What's Cooking?

French Onion looks good. This is a pretty good recipe for it...has won best soup, two years in a row at the family soup party. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/french-onion-soup-recipe2.html

    Fair Warning

Should be fine if you fish above Ashley on Saturday or Sunday. The guys are done on the upper end, not much good holding water up there when it is this low. They moved camp down river today. Say howdy if your floating through. We won't be,hard to spot.
  12. If your fishing sucks this weekend....blame us. Stuck in town, but sure the advance crew will sore lip a bunch..Take your complaints to that guy 3rd from the right.

    Whatchya Drinking?

You guys are enjoying some fine beers! Public House's stuff is pretty good, N side of I-44 near St. James. Big Piney is worth a visit too if your headed South of Licking,on 63. That Sculpin is good too. Will be making Sazerac's this weekend. Redemption Rye, simple syrup, Peychauds bitter, touch of absynthe, and a twist of lime.
  15. If in Richmond Heights...not far...5 minutes...usually better after the meeting...not that I go often, but is what it is...cash bar. Usually better info.

    Wade Trip

Not bad considering how low the water is (78cfs at Montauk, 199cfs at Akers). Don't recall it being this low in January...Not in the last decade anyway.
  17. They do work. Luckycraft, Megabass Smithwicks, Rapala's, Duo Realis, Yo-Zuri, Excaliburs, & McStick's work well but one bait might out fish the others. More a factor of depth, and size, more than color. You will want a few different baits in different sizes and some that run deeper or float. Faster presentations than you would use for lake bass.
  18. Used to overthink stuff a lot. Keep your candy in the water as much as possible and you will catch some fish. Timing seems to be more important. If the fish want to move 25' to eat its on. The feeding lamp is lit! Sometimes the strike zone is the size of a dime.

    What's Cooking?

8 racks for dinner on the river next weekend, lamb chops tonight. Happy New Year Now!
  21. Love to float and camp in the winter, but won't stare at a hole in the ice. Would show for free flowing whiskey, and a card game though.

    Sad News

Nathan Harris has passed unexpectedly and far to young. Was a member here. Visitation in St. Charles on the 30th. Was a good person and angler.
  23. Impressive! Never do, or talk about taxes, financials or math on the river because that's what I do for a living, but fine if it's what you want to do. Got out around 20 days this year. Had two or three great days of river bass fishing, a couple good days of trout fishing, but just average mostly, and my saltwater trip was a bust. Had fun, caught some fish, and spent some time with some great folks, but did not get out enough. Plan to get out more in 2017.

    New trout boat

Horsepower is rated at the jet pump. National Park Service sets the rules on a good bit of the Current, Jacks Fork, and Buffalo. Forest Service sets the rules on the Eleven Point.
  25. North Fork of the White in MO or Norfolk Tailwater in AR? Call Sunburst if in MO. No fun to float that AR tail water in small craft if they run water. Nothing to hit, but no place to stop.
