Thinking of an Everglades trip for Tarpon & Snook, but nit sure if it has recovered. Maybe a lazy Canada trip to catch smallmouth, walleye, and pike now that the border is open.
All my main rods are 4pc. Think it was less than $150 last time I ordered an extra tip when sent my old Sage SLT back for some warranty work. Love that rod, have fished it for 20+ years.
I haven't bought a fly rod in years, but the three fly rods I use most often have 2 tips each, one has 3. You can order extras. All you have to do is ask. I like my rainshadow, and north fork composite spin & baitcasting rods..
The test criteria is available online at Fly Fishers International. It’s very tedious to read,. It took my friend several attempts to pass it and he casts better quite a bit better than I do. Figure it’s like a mainstreet duck calling contest. Everyone runs a similar and difficult routine and the folks who make the fewest mistakes go to the final.
I casted with Lefty a few times and never got much out of it. My late friend Jerry Clark “the Single Malt Plumber” really upped my casting game, along with guys like Jim L, Brad E, and Brian E. The were all going for their Master Caster test and I’d cast with them.
Na think all will be fine, I’m sure I can out cast him for distance and accuracy, but odds are on him for fishing in his 5 county area. There is NO animosity, I’m sure it will be fun!
Nope, same pole to make it same for a casting contest. 3 casts max for total distance, 3 targets (hula hoops) at various distances overhead. 3 casts at each. Fishing contest after. I just wanna take your whiskey and you might get it back.
I’d bet you a case of beer/bottle of whiskey (your choice) and you bring equal value if I win. I’ll use your rod and outcast you. Guess your celebrating legal MO 420 a bit early🤣
Looks like fun, if you want to build a full size six strip bamboo I own most of the tooling, know where to get access to the rest, Havent made one from scratch in 15 years, but I split a culm of cane & started on some strips last year.
Dunno, I’ve always learned allot from folks who are better at something than me. Your welcome to learn your own way. I used to cast regularly with some very good fly casters, some FFF certified, some master certified. Master is a pretty tough test. Think the late Jerry Clark did allot to correct my mechanics.
I haven't been down there in years. It's quicker to access the river just down the road a Suicide Hill. Go down on to the left of the access if facing the river. Pretty easy to walk to Meramec Springs and back from there. Its only about 2 miles one way.
Woodies & teal hear last weekend. Shot a couple mallards Sunday AM, gonna head out tomorrow, & Friday AM for an hour out two in St Charles. Hunting this coming weekend for sure. Some Big ducks moving in with the moon & weather up north hits hear Friday.
